It prevents the canvas from getting accidentally knocked and becoming askew. Brilliant way to use this product! Can't wait to use it for birthday parties so short term decor hanging.

This was the perfect product for my son's wall calendar, as he tired of seeing it fall to the floor repeatedly using push pins. This putty is very safe, with no irritating scent, heavy pigment,solvents or toxic ingredients. And so easy to use-after placing rolled up tabs at each corner-his calendar now remains on the wall permanently. Problem solved! This putty works on many surfaces(nine) and is easily removable. It replaces the need for tape, staples, tacks, small nails. And best of all, the price is very reasonable. I definitely recommend this product!

I use this to hang wedding invitations in my spare room. I use half pea size amount in the top 2 corners and it works great! I haven't used this for heavy items, but would suggest item to others.
