Best Corned Beef

Mohd June 9, 2026

This corned beef is absolutely worth the extra couple of dollars. The flavor is cleaner, the texture is smoother, and the color is far more appealing than the Great Value brand. It's more palatable, less greasy, and holds together beautifully when sliced or cooked. After trying multiple brands, Hereford is easily the superior choice and the best value for money.

I made this dush on Father's Day, I was so pleased to see pure corn beef, not fatty oil/grease . And if you love corn beef, try this brand. **( just a cooking tip, buy some Walmart-green onions, and Sautee it in a pan w/olive oil than add corn beef.!!! WHAT GREAT TASTE!!!

Hard to find lower sodium corned beef

anonymous June 5, 2026

The best one for making corned beef hash. Dice fresh potatoes into large chunks and saute until tender and lightly browned. Cut corned beef in chunks and add to potatoes. Add a couple of tablespoons of water to moisten. A great quick meal and not salty.

corned beef this is a fantastic brand of corned beef it has less sodium which is great for your health I find this to be very flavorful, I have bought other brands that have been really fatty this one is awesome little to no fat I gave it four stars because my key broke off upon trying to open it I just used the can opener instead I find this to be a fantastic product I would recommend it I buy it several times a month so I definitely will purchase it again

I like this product because it's really not as salty as the other brands. Bought it a few times and usually it's on point. The most recent cans had meat that was too mushy. Company needs to maintain consistent good quality!!

I ordered six cans of this corned beef. Unfortunately, when the package arrived three of the cans were missing the twist keys used to open the cans and I’m not sure that a regular manual can opener will work on these cans. I’ll have to return and exchange them. I plan on using the corned beef to make hash for breakfast and a less salty flavor sounds appealing. Obviously, less salt is also healthier.

Glad others liked it...but OUR Hereford was ICK :(

Robin July 21, 2026

Reading the glowing reviews others have written of this product, I can only regret that much more that that was not the experience in my household. Every member of my family is a fan of homemade Reubens using canned corned beef (usually made with a different brand). Figuring -- it's canned corned beef and, really, how different could a different brand be? -- I decided, this time, to try Hereford to make our Reubens. From the very second the can popped open, I knew this would be a different experience; I just couldn't imagine HOW different. A greasy liquid simply POURED from the opening as soon as the pressure was released from the can, and I had to grab paper towels and treat the prep area like a little pool or the liquid would have gushed off the counter. Once I had the beef on a plate, it was still swimming in so much grease/liquid that I had to mop up the liquid from the meat itself before even trying to slice. Fine. There's nothing wrong with generously moisturized meat, right? We'll cope. After assembling the Reubens, while grilling the sandwiches, I was startled by how soggy the rye bread was becoming, but I just soldiered on, hoping/figuring the grilling would help dry it out enough. After I had all five servings prepped (4 for dinner %26 one for later), with everyone looking forward to this (relatively rare) treat, we began eating and 1) by then, the rye bread had morphed from toasted BREAD(ish) into a soggy, almost pudding texture sitting on top of soggy meat(ish), and 2) the meat FLAVOR was completely obliterated by the purely greasy liquid. For the first time EVER, NO ONE finished their sandwich, and though it seems a bit of a blaphemous thing to do to a REUBEN, I tossed out the pieces of leftover gooey half sandwiches that were left on everyone's dinner plates, along with the entire extra Reuben I'd made and put in the refrigerator for later snacks. This corned beef was simply vile in flavor and texture and, to be honest, having made Reubens for 30 years, I understand that one SHOULD expect more grease in a corned beef product (as compared to a slice of plain fresh beef). But this? -- whatever it was -- was simply WRONG. It was swimming in so much greasy liquid that the flavor was not even recognizable as corned beef. I don't know what went so wrong in the production process, but something did. And I'm just profoundly relieved we didn't have hungry guests over for dinner that night. And, yes, I want that money back.

Save your self from this.

This had the highest fat percentage i have ever seen in any product. It is literally a block of slimy, thick, oozing grease. I am serious about this. It is a real health hazard. Do NOT eat this.
