Hillman Ribbed Plastic Anchors with Screws (#8-10 x 1-1/4") - 20 Sets

I bought these anchors as I was lowering the pace on the wall where I had my drapery rod on my sliding glass door. I needed something that would hold the drapery rod in place at each end and the middle. It stated on the package to use 1/4" drill bit. After putting the 1/4" and the anchor side to side I decided to use a 3/16" drill bit as it seemed to be the size I needed. I was able to tap the anchors in with the hammer and then use the screws to hold the drapery hardware in place. The anchors didn't bend as I tapped them into place as another reviewer mentioned. Sometimes you have to change what is suggested on the package to have it work like it should.

Walmart's price for this product is more affordable than the other stores I shopped around at. However, when I tried to hammer the anchor into the pre-drilled hole (per the instructions), the plastic couldn't hold up. I didn't apply significant pressure but unfortunately the sides of the anchor collapsed, rendering it useless. I'm happy it came with 20 pieces. If a more sturdy material were used for the anchors, it would be a great value. Until then, I recommend only using it on a soft drywall.

Waste of money. Went through 4 of these before going and springing a few extra bucks on decent wall anchors. using the recommended 3/16" bit will cause them to crumple when trying to hammer them in and trying to step up in size will prevent you from getting a good grab. the perform equally bad in both drywall and block.
