Review: I've had good luck with Hyper Tough tools and this 8 lb splitting maul is another solid one from them. The price is hard to beat for the quality you get. It has a good weight to it and the head angle is perfect for splitting firewood. It bites into the wood well and helps pop logs apart without a lot of extra effort. The fiberglass handle feels sturdy and the grip is comfortable when swinging for longer periods. It doesn't feel cheap or flimsy like some budget tools. One thing I also like is that it's strong enough to double as a wedge when needed. I've used it with a sledge to help split larger logs and even assist when dropping bigger trees, and it held up just fine. Overall, this is a great budget splitting maul that works well for firewood and general property work. If you're looking for a solid splitter without spending a lot, this one is definitely worth picking up.
There is nothing better for splitting wood than using a maul. This maul is heavy and splits wood easily. The fiberglass handle is strong enough to last for many years. Great tool for splitting firewood.
For anyone looking to get "the best bang for their buck", this maul is your guy! I was hesitant at first, being as this tool is usually a $60 average price, and i paid $33 for it. I love the size of this maul, it's the perfect balance of weight and length. You can't beat that price, especially since this is a fairly high quality product at the end of the day. No complaints here, and I split wood daily, I absolutely have already and will continue to recommend this splitting maul to anyone and everyone looking for an affordable yet quality product.
Bought for my husband and he loves the quality, weight and efficiency with each swing. Very happy with product!
Just the right size to help us finish our yard work from the damage the hurricane caused! These were very difficult to find because they were always sold out but we finally got our hands on one!
These are good splitting mauls that can double as sledgehammers when one is needed. I like the eight pound weight while my wife prefers a six pound Fiskars model that we own. I would have preferred a 36 inch handle for the 3 or 4 extra inches of arc force and head velocity that can be generated. Recommend.
The axe itself is nice and has good weight to it, but I purchased a new axe and was given this one that looks as if its already been used and has a dull blade
Minus one star for an obvious form over function design error (See in image). Why would anyone not know that this section of the handle is going to take some abuse. Other than that, it gets the job done. The fiberglass shaft dissipates the shock of a strike better than my old wood handle maul and the rubberized handle is great! I have yet to weigh this maul but it does seem to be heavier than my old one. All it needs is a good sharpening and you'll be ready to go.
too heavy! wish it would have been pointed out that this is used for short-term extremely large logs not all day use for regular firewood size logs. I should have went with the 4 lb
dont much care for the shape of the maul head. i seem to cut much better with my old 4.5lb short head maul. needs a good sharpening when recieve the weight is nice. just wish it was a better shape - shorter, wider head
