Hyper Tough HT100 Code Reader, 1996 & Newer OBD2 Vehicles, Free Fix & Part Recommendations

read a lot of bad reviews of people saying it didnt work, or would have error. I figured surely i was dmart enough to figure it how since hyper tough usually has decent products. i figured out how it worked, and why it gave error in about 5 minutes. You connect to it through the app on your phone, not through your phones bluetooth settings. also your car must be turned on and running, not off. diagnosed my problem and the codes easily in about 3 minutes. i think all the low ratings are from low iq people

Works like a champ but be aware that it only checks the engine and related monitors. If you have a bad catalytic converter or a cracked emissions re-uptake tank ( as I had) it will not pick that up. If you need a deeper diagnosis, just buy the more expensive models. The software is really handy because it displayed a number of good service centers nearby, from which I found the best one.

It worked perfectly right out of the box. It's self-explanatory and comes with an easy to follow instructional pamphlet! This product is well worth the money! It's very handy when you have any car/truck that acts up. This way, you're less likely to get ripped off at the shop!

Very easy to use this is how you use it follow these instructions. I drive a 2022 Volkswagen Taos se and I had a ghost code from a recent software update that triggered a false check engine light that was stopping me from remote start. Step 1 don't download the app you don't need it they're just trying to farm your data. Step 2 open it up get in your car WITH THE ENGINE OFF BUT TURN THE KEY OR PRESS THE START BUTTON TO JUST TURN ON THE ELECTRONICS. Step 3 plug in the scanner to the code reader plug that should be right by your left foot. Step 4 wait a few seconds boom your code or codes will be there for you. Step 5 research the codes online and clear them if it's a false code like mine if it's something serious the code reader will let you know. Step 6 hopefully your car is all good and clear the code and boom you're all done no app downloads no data farming just pure ease of use until next time. Drive safe.

I was surprised at the amount of information it gives you for the money. Connects to the app effortlessly, reads codes quickly %26 will retain information so you can clear the codes %26 still keep record of what it came up with before it cleared. Definitely a better unit than I had anticipated.

From the time I removed it from the box until I plugged into my car, it was easy, connection was great and it gave me numerous categories for my vehicle. When I take the car for an oil change, if I am told it needs something, I will take the car home and run the Hyper Tough Code Reader to see it I actually need what the repair shop told me was necessary.

It works for very basic needs. It's somewhat complicated to use and find codes and issues but it does the basic reset when needed. Guessing goes a long way with this tool so I'd suggest KEEPING the instructions for reference. My husband did not and I get to hear him complain about this tool the few times he has needed to use it.

Good code reader, screen is visible, wish the ease of use was better, like when reading the manual/instructions i noticed its not accurate information with identifying the flashing icons and what they mean on the reader after a scan is complete, other than that it scans and deletes codes, which is all I need for now.

Whoever composed the product description on Walmart's website says this HT100 will test the ABS functionality, but when the item was received the box for the HT100 does not include that function. You would need to purchase the HT-500 which we did not see available. Turned into a waste of time and money.
