Hyper Tough HT100 Code Reader, 1996 & Newer OBD2 Vehicles, Free Fix & Part Recommendations

I love not only the same day delivery of this much needed device for my car issue. but this tool saved me over 500.00. I ran low on coolant and my check engine light came on. I refilled my coolant and my check engine light remained on and it was showing my thermostat was bad....but I heard that if you refill your coolant and reset the light in your car and it does not come back on, then there is a huge chance the thermostat code triggered due to the low coolant ....so after getting this device to reset my check engine light (the auto zone place does not reset the light only give you the read out) it saved me from paying a person 80.00 just to clear the code....then it saved me over 300.00 for a new thermostat....this 25.00 device saved me hundreds ....thank you Walmart

read a lot of bad reviews of people saying it didnt work, or would have error. I figured surely i was dmart enough to figure it how since hyper tough usually has decent products. i figured out how it worked, and why it gave error in about 5 minutes. You connect to it through the app on your phone, not through your phones bluetooth settings. also your car must be turned on and running, not off. diagnosed my problem and the codes easily in about 3 minutes. i think all the low ratings are from low iq people

It worked perfectly right out of the box. It's self-explanatory and comes with an easy to follow instructional pamphlet! This product is well worth the money! It's very handy when you have any car/truck that acts up. This way, you're less likely to get ripped off at the shop!

From the time I removed it from the box until I plugged into my car, it was easy, connection was great and it gave me numerous categories for my vehicle. When I take the car for an oil change, if I am told it needs something, I will take the car home and run the Hyper Tough Code Reader to see it I actually need what the repair shop told me was necessary.

Works like a champ but be aware that it only checks the engine and related monitors. If you have a bad catalytic converter or a cracked emissions re-uptake tank ( as I had) it will not pick that up. If you need a deeper diagnosis, just buy the more expensive models. The software is really handy because it displayed a number of good service centers nearby, from which I found the best one.

It works for very basic needs. It's somewhat complicated to use and find codes and issues but it does the basic reset when needed. Guessing goes a long way with this tool so I'd suggest KEEPING the instructions for reference. My husband did not and I get to hear him complain about this tool the few times he has needed to use it.

I got an error code the first two times I tried using it but I looked at a few YouTube reviews and one said keep trying because it very well may work fine even though you get that. And on the third try it did work fine so I'm glad I didn't return it. I learned I have a small evaporative leak which was the same result Autozone got when they tested for free. I also had the code reader turn off the check engine light and now I can see how many miles it goes until it comes back on. I did not use the app and it was fine, to learn what code meant I just googled it including the make and model of my vehicle.

Good code reader, screen is visible, wish the ease of use was better, like when reading the manual/instructions i noticed its not accurate information with identifying the flashing icons and what they mean on the reader after a scan is complete, other than that it scans and deletes codes, which is all I need for now.

Needed a basic meter to make sure I could pass emissions, it worked but barely. Pros- inexpensive ,compact enough to leave in glove compartment, readily available at Walmart. Cons - screen visibility is terrible you need a magnifier to read it. Very limited there are other OBD devices with a lot more features for the same price point.

it's way behind their competitors on the technology, I bought a cheaper one on Amazon which is wireless and the app tells you directly on the phone what the code means and how to fix it
