You can't go by what I think, because I'm an addict. The plantains used are not consistent. In the same canister, you'll have some which are sweet, and others not-so-much. Also, they are not all cooked to the same degree - some are fried darker than some in the same canister - but I like that. As I said… I'm an addict.
Since I was diagnosed with a stage three breast cancer, I haven't been able to eat just about anything and even drink less and for some reason, I tried one container of them. My son brought me a couple pieces out of his container and I've been buying medicine and I'll tell you they really do have healthy properties in the food itself. Plantains might not sound like a great morning nightmare meal but unfortunately that's all I can eat all those plantains.
I bought the 30 oz jar of Great Value mayonnaise because I was making a big batch of potato salad for a cookout and didn't want to run out halfway through. I normally grab a name brand, but the price difference was hard to ignore, so I figured I'd give it a shot. The texture is what surprised me first. It's thick and creamy, not runny or watery like some store brands I've tried in the past. It spreads easily on bread without tearing it, and it holds up well in cold salads. The potato salad came out just as creamy as when I use the expensive stuff, and nobody at the cookout could tell the difference. Flavor-wise, it's tangy but not too sharp. There's a decent vinegar kick up front, then a smooth, rich finish. It's not as eggy as some premium mayo brands, but honestly I didn't miss it. My only small complaint is that it's slightly sweeter than I personally like—not dessert sweet, just a hint that you notice if you eat it plain. Mixed into things like tuna or chicken salad, you don't really taste it. The jar is plastic with a flip cap, which is convenient, but the cap doesn't always seal tightly. I've learned to double-check it before putting it back in the fridge. I'm hoping the whole 30 oz stays fresh before I finish it—mayo usually lasts a while, but this is a big jar for one person.
Wish these ripe plantain chip were sliced thinner as they are so super crunchy and very hard and could chip or break your teeth as I have to hold chip in my mouth for a short while to soft then chew slowly to avoid enamel chipping … yes they are super hard but deliciously satisfying and so good as a munching snack.
love these, too bad they are not available. you have to constantly check to see if they are back in walmart stock. garlic is never available as well.
They are very good. Anice crunch to them just like a potato chip. Don't compare them to a banana chip- they're not at all like that, but they have a nice taste with a small bit of tang. Addictive to eat
I'm not going to buy it again anytime soon b/c I need to improve my nutrition choices, but this was good value for money and a tasty item, and it can be shipped. So yeah, great choice, especially to share with others!
I was not happy with this product because the container was opened. I still have it and don't know what to do with it. I am afraid to eat it cause it looks like it was tampered with.
The first one I bought was awesome! But the subsequent plantain chips were in broken pieces and seal broken. Not good ! I returned it and asked for replacement. If the new ones comes broken, I will return and ask for money refund.
Unfortunately I couldn't eat them. I was very disappointed to find out it wasn't sealed when I opened the lid. It's better to buy these things by yourself and check them before purchasing.
