This was, hands down, the best purchase I've made in a long time. I bought my daughter a smaller pool like this when she was younger and she loved it. I was on the fence about getting such a large pool for just the two of us, but I'm so glad I did. We both LOVE it and have used it every day. I set the pool up by myself (I know it says to use two people so you don't drag the liner, but it was hot!). Set up was a breeze. The hardest part was waiting for it to fill. We've have family and friends over for cookouts and to swim, and it's been great. You can comfortably fit a few adults and a few children in this. I didn't buy the salt filter and have not had any problems. I put minimal chlorine in it and monitor the levels with the test strips. Awesome purchase overall. It's exceeded all of my expectations!
This is my second Intex Easy-Set pool. The first was the 12' x 30" size which I simply set up on the grass on a flat spot in my yard. I had that pool for 4 years and sold it since it was still in good shape. I have only had this pool up for just over a week, but so far, I am impressed with the value for the money. You get a complete maintenance kit which includes an over-the-wall skimmer that is simple, but ingenious plus a vacuum (which you do not get with smaller pools). You also get a ground cloth to help protect the pool liner (also something you do not get with the smaller versions) and a debris cover (again, does not come with smaller pools). Also, for those upgrading from a smaller version, this one has valves on the inlet and outlet to the filter, so you can perform maintenance (like cleaning the filter) without installing the rubber plugs to prevent the water in the pool from flowing out. The ground must be very level, but that is true for any pool, so I don't see that as a negative. For this pool, I actually built a small retaining wall that is 8" on one side and ground level on the other and filled it with sand so my prep was more than usual. I do have flat spots in my yard, but not where we wanted the pool. If you have a flat spot in your yard, you will not need this much prep. It's a big pool, but I filled it with a single garden hose on town water in about 16 hours. So far the filter is adequate to keep the pool clean, but I have it in the open, with no trees over it. All-in-all, a good value for the money.
I had this pool for about a month before I was able to set it up. I live on a really hilly farm so we had to make adjustments to find a level place to set it up. Even now it is not completely level but it seems to be working out just fine. My only complaint is that the ladder that came with the pool is very unstable for people who are heavier (it is wobbles and shakes as you're trying to climb it). Other than that it is a great pool for the price. I would buy it again in a heartbeat (though maybe the 15 foot diameter one because it's easier to find 15 feet of level ground than 18 feet).
I am impressed with this pool. I was concerned about my area I placed it as its a little bumpy and uneven. I filled in the low spots with some sand and eyeballed it. I followed the instructions carefully and it went up great! Super important to pull the wrinkles out of the bottom after you get just an inch or so of water across the entire bottom as any wrinkles will be a problem later when try to clean it. The ladder that came with it seems a little lacking and I will upgrade that. It's too narrow and there is no platform on the top so makes turning around difficult. But that's a minor gripe. Great pool, no problems, the inflatable ring has held the air from day one. It is a lot easier to put the cover on with help from a friend, that's for sure! This will make a hot Mississippi summer a lot more bearable!
The description did not say anything about the accessories so we were presenting surprised to find the Tarp, and Ladder included with pool, set up was easy and quick, with summer just around the corner this is a must have item if you have children or grandchildren! We bought this pool for our family of 6 when we first moved into our new house 11 1/2 years ago and we still use it. We will be putting it up again this summer! It has some stains in the bottom but other than that it is perfect! We upgraded to a salt water system a couple of years ago and that is awesome too! We upgraded to a new ladder a few years after we got it so it was more sturdy also. Our kids absolutely love this pool even though they are getting older. We have parties and all of our family members like to get in it. Our kids are now 17, 16, 13, and 11 and they still enjoy it. We were planning on upgrading to the next biggest one but we can't afford it this year. We would highly recommend this pool. We roll it up every fall and put large silicon packs in it to absorb the leftover moisture from draining it. We actually still put it back in it's original box to store it and put it in our shed. Cannot say enough about how much we love it! A tip for putting it up is to definitely let it lay in the sun for awhile to soften before stretching it out. I have attached a before set up picture and an after....hard to believe it's almost 12 years old!!!
The pool would be very easy to set up IF, and only IF your ground is completely level. Otherwise, you are asking for trouble if its not level. Be sure to get a tiller and or someone who knows how to level the area before attempting to set up this pool. Maybe the CD has instructions on how to level the ground before set up. Otherwise it was a durable pool that lasted 3 years. Once a hole appeared in the top inflatable bubble ring, the patch had a hard time holding in the intense heat of the summer, and then it was time for a new pool but for the price it was better to get another easy set pool than the thousands of dollars on an above ground pool instillation. Of course make sure the ground is COMPLETELY LEVEL.
This is not our first above ground pool, nor is it our first Intex one. this one came with a hole which was discovered after we already had it set up and filled. then after patching it ONE day later the pump is burnt out and not working. overall such a huge waste of money! we paid $300 for sand to make sure it was nice and level area for the pool, went through HOURS of setting this up and then filled it and all within 2 days it's already shot. we havent even been able to enjoy it once!!
When I received this product the box looked intact. Some tape on one side. When I removed the outer box, I saw the inner box had received severe damage. Then upon opening the box, the pool had a foot long slice through multiple layers. Obviously, the warehouse staff damaged it, taped it up and let it go knowing full well that it was damaged. Not a very nice thing to do. Now I have to return it to a store, wait the 10 days for a refund, then purchase another pool, and summer will be over. Not cool.
Within 24 hours of filling, two pin holes appeared in the sides. Now off to the store because the included 'repair kit' does not include the vinyl cement that is needed to make the repairs. We have not even used it yet but have over 5,000 gallons of water in this pool so hopefully it holds long enough for us to actually swim in it! Stressful!!! We followed all of the setup instructions and have been very careful with the pool. No one has gone near it except to check the fill levels...the quality is disappointing!
