HTH our preferred chemical brand for pools i

anonymous May 20, 2026

we like these HTH brand for chemicals and they work best for us. we use the shock, stabilizer, and3-in pool tablets by HTH. the pH has to be right before you can add the shock or you will waste a lot of shock. at the beginning of each year we also stabilize our pool as soon the chemicals arevin the right range which is necessary. I personally desolve the shock in pool water by stirring it with a plastic paint stirring tool. I put a little and a bucket at a time and throw the water toward the center of the pool and some around the edges. it works well for us that way and we don't have a lot of residue everywhere. be sure to use your pool water and not faucet water so it has the same chemical levels as your pool water. that's just my theory. we vacuum next day.

Great pool shock product. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Meg May 18, 2026

I've been using HTH Shock advanced treatment for about 2 years. It's extremely effective. Keeps our pool clean and algae free. I use the HTH 4step pool care program and it's been great. The quality and performance are really good. I've had fantastic results since starting with the HTH. Also the price of this particular product is fantastic! Their chlorine tablets are also great. (The price is amazing too) Highly recommend will continue to use in the routine maintenance of our pool.

Easy Pool Maintenance Secrets

Bryan November 1, 2025

Managing your pool is easy, anyone can do it. A packet of HTH Advanced shock crystals, especially if your pool is under 13,500 gallons of water, biweekly (2x a month) in the hot summer months(May-October) along with a HTH 3” floater will keep your pool clean %26 clear. Muriatic Acid every 2 weeks. Also, the MOST IMPORTANT thing is keeping your pool pump running at least 9-12 hours a day in the hot summer months and CLEANING/RINSING your filter 1x weekly, not Monthly, with a garden hose will prevent you from calling some pool guy who will charge big bucks and get you on the hook for maintenance $$$. Salt Water pool or regular, doesn't matter. Clean/rinse your pool filter weekly and run that pool pump 9-12 hours everyday in the hot months. Yes, I realize you're worried about the electric bill but you can pay a little more in electric bills or a lot more in more in pool maintenance. Pumps (aka motors) are meant to run.

Does its job

Alex April 15, 2026

If you want to use Cal-hypo for your shock this is a good choice. Reasonably priced compared to other brands and stores. Does what it is supposed to do. Great for after some heavy rain and easy enough to just sprinkle it around the pool. It seems to dissolve fairly quickly.

Conqued Our Algae

James October 14, 2025

I had to super shock my pool this summer as we were fighting a particularly tenacious algae. This got the job done. No stabilizer in this product so no worries about cyanuric acid chlorine lock so I do advise using it overnight right at sunset. Without stabilizer the sun will break it down quickly so don't use it when it's sunny.

To Expensive shameful

Kiley April 18, 2026

The price kills me. It's chlorine. How can they charge this much for chlorine or any type cleaner for that matter. This is ridiculous we should be taxing billionaires 90% especially these corporations.

This is not max strength cal hypo shock. It provides ~52% available chlorine while full strength versions provide ~68%. As a result, you can pay a bit more for higher strength cal hypo shock and be better off. Nothing wrong with the product, just comparison shop well!

Late, poor quality, lied about size

Kate October 23, 2025

This product arrived two weeks late. When it did arrive, it was a weak and inaccurate product. On the packaging it says that it is 1 pound, but as you can see by this photo, it only weighs 10 ounces. The product is also very poor quality. I have put three bags in my pool and there has been no change.

Customer service has become awful

Sheila September 13, 2025

Walmart has made a mistake and I am now at past 15 days for a resolution. It is very difficult to talk to these chat bots I need someone to contact me at least credit my account. This particular item said it was delivered then it wasn't then it was canceled. I've been going back-and-forth with chat For over a week. I need my money back. I don't really care what form it comes in. !!! M

Like pouting money into your pool

Tricia April 7, 2026

Dissolves down into a sand like substance that has to be vaccuumed. It is not quality at all. Spend the extra money and buy splash or leslie products.
