Excellent machine for a beginner to sewing. First, I had a Singer. Immediately started having problems, and pieces of the machine were actually falling off. Returned it when a friend (a very experienced quilter) recommended the Janome brand. Absolutely no complaints about this machine.
Very pleasantly surprised with how easy this machine is to use. Had an older Janome, so trust the brand. Had the features I want and was a great price!
Sews great! I love it. For some reason I can't use quilters cotton thread in this or my Brother sewing machine. I bought the brothers polyester embroidery thread and it works great in both.
This Janome C30 sewing machine is for traveling to quilt retreats. So far, I have used it a lot and it sews great. It is light weight and easy to move. It has plenty of stitches to pick from. Overall, a great little machine .
This is a high-quality machine. My big, expensive, super sewing machine is in for a tune-up, so I did some research and found this little gem. Janome is a high valu name in the sewing-verse and I have not been disappointed.
perfect beginner friendly machine, so easy to use and set up. only thing needs getting use to is the one step button hole feature, everything else is so easy to work with.
When I unpacked the sewing machine I was so excited to have this highly rated Janome, but when I took the power cord out of the plastic bag it was in a 6 inch section of the cord (at the end with the wall plug) fell on the floor - and when I picked it up I saw the frayed wires sticking out on that piece, as well as on the longer section still in my other hand. The cord hadn't been cut, as the two ends were ragged. When I looked at the plastic bag it had come in I saw a number of small ragged holes. Apparently a ‘rodent' had chewed through the bag, and then through the cord. I took photos, but there doesn't appear to be a way to attach the files here. The box the machine came in was in perfect condition, so the damage must have happened at the Janome manufacturing plant, and the person packing the box didn't notice the damaged bag and power cord when they added it to the box. I am so disappointed.
I had this machine for only a few months and the stitch I wanted stopped working right in the middle of my quilting. something that looked like grafite was coming out all over my beautiful new quilt. Something popped in the machine and it started to make zigzag looking stitches. It even started to stitch in place. I ended up buying another machine. it was refurbished and cost me 216.00. I wouldn't recommend a refurbished machine to anyone no matter who is selling it.
I have owned a Janome machine for years and love it. When I saw this one on sale it seemed like a good idea for an upgrade. Wrong! This model is very cheaply made and after using it for a short time it started making a horrible noise when I tried to sew. A friend who repairs sewing machines looked at it and said the plastic gears were crumbling inside the machine. I should have known it wasn't as good as my old one just by the weight when I picked it up. Live and learn, I will continue to rely on my old workhorse as it is much better made.
I ordered this machine because Janome usually means quality. The needle doesn't line up in the center of the presser foot. I can self adjust and live with that quirk. Now the stitches are horrible, messy. I needed a lightweight machine for classes.
