My old bread maker broke. And looking for choices to remove maker broke. And looking for choices to replace it I came across this fine duty. The price is unbeatable and the quality is high enjoys features most other bread makers don't have including an extra paddle and a variety of settings for making everything from jam replace it I came across this fine duty. Easy to use. The bread is crusty on the outside and tender inside. It is delicious warm with a little honey butter. The machine is a bit noisy as it mixes and kneads. That is my only complaint. We love having fresh bread made with organic ingredients for less than half the cost of store bought bread.
well worth buying. easy to use. great instruction and recipes. nothing like having fresh bread to eat in the morning. put all the ingredients in, set for what you want and the machine does the rest. makes more things not just bread. glad i purchased it.
After reading the manual, I found this KBS bread maker to be a wonderful kitchen tool! I like the 'amounts' listings in the manual more than the 'recipes' booklet. This KBS replaces a Sunbeam machine from the early '90s and they have improved in so many ways. I always had trouble getting the loaf out of the Sunbeam and when I finally did, there was always a giant hole in the bottom. I have baked 3 loaves with the KBS and all three of them slid right out when I turned the pan over and only had a small opening in the bottom because the paddle is a better shape. The ceramic coating on the pan is a really big advancement. It was one of the reasons I bought this model. I used the dispenser on 2 of the loves - first one was toasted sesame seeds and the 2nd was raisins for a cinnamon bread. Both times the dispenser emptied and distributed the seeds and raisins really well throughout the dough. I was really impressed. All the loaves baked perfectly on the Medium setting. I am so glad I moved up to the KBS bread maker. I am very pleased with it.
super easy to use and the bread taste really good. you can replace the sugar with milk powder in the recipe if you don't like too much sugar in your bread
Overall, makes nice loaves. We've found a 1lb loaf for two people gets used before going stale. Larger sizes tended to dry out the crust before we could finish. Also have an older Panasonic maker that has an automatic yeast dispenser, which is a feature I wish KBS had.
Nice appliance with room for improvement. I have tried the whole wheat bread. It is nice. Loaf comes out easily and it is very fluffy. Things to consider: It is not very easy to clean the inside in case flour or cocoa fall in between The lid needs to be unscrewed to come off. Majority of recipes call for a big percentage of sugar, for milk powder, and for gluten. I tried to make the sweet babka however the result looks rather like a chocolate cake I tried to follow the time table.. I did not have clear instructions on how to create the swirles that show on the pic. I will keep practicing.
I needed a horizontal pan which I didn't see mentioned. Recipes were different. I'm 86 I under stand recipes. These were not baker friendly. I was looking for 2 beaters on bottom of baker, this comes with one on top. Make work will but not for me!
The recipes required ingredients not normally in my pantry. The bread would never rise to the way it should. Never made a loaf that was perfect. I could use it for dough and oven bake and turned out good but never baked in bread machine properly. Followed recipe to a tee and still lousy results.
The first time I tried to use it, about an hour into the cycle it beeped loudly 3 times and I heard a loud clunk inside the machine. I looked at the display and the program had changed and the machine added 4 hours to the cook time. I had to throw the dough away and I returned the machine for a refund. I cannot rate the bread maker for any of the suggestions because I only got an hour of use out of it, nowhere near a complete cycle.
