Alarms go off for no reason. At least my partner can reset them from their phone, while I, who am setup as the system owner can not! When they go off I have to find, and then physically remove the detector that thinks there is “too much smoke” to be hushed in the hall next to the sensor that says IAQ is good. I would have given them one star, but the app works for one of us at least. Thanks for the tinnitus. Model P4010ACS-WF
These came stock in my wife and I's new apartment. All was well for about a month but we were just woken up at 2am by all three of our units going off for absolutely no reason. No smoke, steam, nothing. And they would not reset or anything. Had to pull them down and disconnect them hoping they'd stop making that horrible noise. Checked every room thoroughly, there is absolutely nothing that should set these off. Faulty product do not recommend.
Purchased Kiddie Smart Alarms under 2 years ago (Dec 2023) to replace end-of-life standard Kiddie units. The units where finicky when contenting my Wi-Fi, after several attempts they would eventually connect. Now for the really disappointing issue, false alarms at random times started about a year after installing! Mostly at night when dead asleep and changes to different units some times. I removed them and cleaned by blowing low pressure compressed air through the units (FYI – The units looked dust free and clean from what I could see). But the false alarms still are an issue. On the last unit that gave repeated false alarms; I ran a self-test and when it completed it went right into a Fire alarm not allowing a hush because of “too much Smoke”! My old standard Kiddie units lasted for their 10-year life cycle without a single false alarm! My Kiddie Smart alarms have been a big disappointment and a real annoyance!
Terrible. Buy if you want to be awakened at 2AM multiple nights even after blowing them out and getting a replacement for one of the three only to then a couple months later be awakened at twice in one night. I had to throw them all away. Kidde knows there is a flaw and need to make owners whole for selling faulty item. I am just glad we are empty nesters and this didn't happen when my three children lived at home.
Nice idea but initiates false alarms spreading throughout the entire linked detector system
I recently purchased a home in Westlake Village, CA and every room has one of these smoke detectors installed. They are constantly going off at all times of the day and night. What's weird is that I assumed there was an electrical or wiring problem so I shut off the circuit breaker thinking this would solve the problem. But no, the alarms continue to go off and what is so weird is that all of the alarms go off at once even though they are not connected to each other. Looks like I'll be hiring an electrician and having all of the alarms replaced with a different manufacturer.
The contractor installed 8 of these in my home when I got my house re-wired. It has been a nuisance since day one. For the first year, all the detectors would loudly sound off FIRE every single night. The entire block can hear the loud alarm. You will have to try to mute all of them in order to locate the one in question. It will sometime say it can't reset because it's too loud. The second year seems to be better. Now it's back to the way it was when they were first installed. We vacuum the detector weekly, but it doesn't help. I'm going to have to buy new detectors because these are terrible. Don't waste your money.
Why isn't zero stars an option? This is trash, we have three devices and ALL THREE have generated multiple false alarms. Zero chance it's dust or debris, we have vacuumed and compressed air these stupid things so many times. Please figure out how to make a smoke alarm.
I've had these in my house for a year, and I have never had so many false alarms. These are worthless as far as warning if there is an actual emergency due to all the false alarms.
I had several of these hardwired professionally in my home based on my townships fire codes. I have multiple false alarms. One right now at 1:59am. There is no switch to turn it off, even temporarily. Do not buy this product. I wasted my money.
