Purchased this for our Grandson for Christmas and were so pleased with it . It went together easily and didn't take much time. He is only 18 months old and immediately sat at it and began to color and look at his new books. He also knew to put them in the bins below the table when done. He had colored off the page onto the table and it cleaned up easily.
This is a sturdy product, but assembly was not super easy. Some of the pre-drilled holes were not deep enough for the screws to fit them, and since the screws were flat, they didn't dig into the wood easily at all. After ripping my hand apart and almost completely stripping the screws to get them in, I ended up having to drill the holes deeper. I probably should have done this right off the bat but unfortunately I didn't think of it until later. Now that the table is together, I do like it and my daughter is enjoying it.
I wanted to give it 5 stars but the assembly of the table was difficult. Some of the holes were not drilled properly and a couple of the screws became stripped before they would set completely so they had to be removed with pliers (no small feat!) causing some surface scratching to the finish. Another hole was not even machined at all, so I had to drill another for a wooden peg. Took longer to assemble because of the snags, otherwise the assembly would have been a simple 30 to 40 minute task. Anyone without assembly experience or the proper tools to fix the manufacturing flubs would have been disappointed for sure. I was fortunate to have the skills. My grandson loves the table that his Nana built him and that is all that counts! It's sturdy, cute and perfectly sized for a preschool to kindergarten aged child.
Bought this as a gift for my toddler grandson for Christmas 2013. I am just now putting it together. The assembly instructions could be a little clearer...just illustrations no text. The construction seems sturdy enough. The design also seems ok. I like the primary colors and the bins. The bins were a little odd though...each one came in 2 pieces to snap together. Must be for more efficient packaging. I would've liked to see a more contoured seat on the chair for comfort. But I guess it is a good value for the cost. It hasn't been put to the endurance test yet!
It's a very cute set. A little smaller than I thought. It took me about 90mins to assemble on my own and the only tricky part were the dowels that hold the baskets. For the price I thought it would have more solid wood, but it's just a nice veneer on MDF, like most cheap furniture these days. My two year old likes it so we will see if it holds up.
Suggested accesories for assembly- a drill with the appropruate hex bit, and wood glue. I've heard wood glue helps keep flatpack furniture together better. I added glue to all edges and screw holes. Table top is currently being weighted down to help keep the table level while the glue dries. The two red and two blue bins come in two peices that you have to snap together. Pull tight so they don't come undone. The table top and side peices are MDF type board with wood grain layer on it. Oh and the two stablizers pieces are as well. This printed wood grain layer cracked a little while attaching the dowels to the side pieces. The red and blue parts of the chair are also MDF type board that are well pianted. The rest is various types of soild wood. We shall see how this holds up. If it lasts 3-4 years I will be happy. :)
I love this table but whoever designed how consumers assemble it must be publicly shamed for putting blisters on the hands of so many. Those 10 wooden poles that hold the bottom of the table together and act as a shelf for the bins were the hardest things I have ever had to put Allen wrench screws into. I would like to be reimbursed for the two bandaids and bottle of scotch I had to purchase after assembly.
Chairs are very small . I bought for my 2 granddaughter who are 5 and almost 7. The set looked very well made. Once I saw the chairs were too little , I returned . Would recommend for ages 2-3.
This is the worse table and chair set ever! Its too late for me to return now but if I could I would. There are chips in the paint and wood and the chairs are loose. I bought it for my grandsons for a Easter gift they are only 2 and 1 years old. I have a wooden set from my kids when they were little that is in way better condition than this set. Dont waste your money on this. If there was a option for a negative review this set would get it.
In just 2 or 3 days the board of the table broke off.
