Kikkoman Instant Egg Flower Soup Mix, Hot & Sour, 0.88 oz pack

This makes the best hot and sour soup, if you don't follow the directions. When you add the water, you must whisk well, and keep the soup on very low heat for about an hour to soften the tiny mushroom pieces. It will not be ready in 15 mins. You can mix it in a pot, bring it to a simmer, then put it in a small crockpot on high for an hour, check to make sure the mushroom is soft, then add a beaten egg cove until the egg is cooked. Adjust the amount of water to your taste...if it has cooked down too much.

This is the perfect base for homemade hot and sour soup. Add some shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, carrots, white pepper, eggs and green onions and it's as good as a restaurant!

Admittedly, this is just a little bit of powder in a bag with a book of ingredients, so it's not mom's homemade hot and sour soup - but it tastes like it! Be sure to mix the soup into COLD water and then boil. Don't forget to stir in an egg at the end. Enjoy.

This is an okay base but really isn't much without some add ins. I added some sesame oil, frozen sliced mushrooms, a few rice noodles, ginger paste, and a quick dash of rice wine vinegar.

SO easy to make, just add it to 2 1/2 c water and make it boil. Gently add a well-beaten egg. I say GENTLY because I don't know about you, but I like bigger pieces of egg in my soup. It has a great taste, just as I remember it!! Yeah, I know it says Egg Flower Soup and underneath says, "Hot and Sour" but it's not that spicy OR sour. It tastes like a combo of the regular egg drop soup and hot and sour soup that you'd get at Chinese restaurants! I balked a little bit at the price ($3.72) but it was well worth every penny. Oh, yes...DON'T forget to get the La Choy 5-oz can of chow mein noodles for the soup. It's the kinda squat can vs. the tall can. (The tall can is Asian-Fusion style or something like that, and they're REALLY thin. NOT the kind you'd usually use in soup.) Also, since you're eating hot soup, don't forget the tissues for your runny nose!

I'm obsessed with this soup mix. I couldn't believe it tastes exactly like restaurant soup. I basically chug the whole thing every time I make it. I do remove the dried green onion with a mesh strainer and add fresh chopped green onion instead. I'm planning to dress this up with tofu and fresh woodear mushrooms one of these days. Also great poured over bean thread cellophane noodles!!

Love this easy to make hot/sour soup. Use it as a broth. Better than chicken soup for health concerns (not doctor reviewed).

This makes a wonderful soup. You don't really have to put the egg in a little bit of time just drop it in and stir.

The 4-pack pricing suddenly jumped from $6.16 to $17 in February whereas single pack remains the same at $1.63? Please take a look and fix the mispricing.
