This is by far the best primer I have ever used. it has great coverage, drys quickly, and paint glides over it. We used this over rough exterior siding and it was a breeze. I will never paint without it again. Just buy it. You will not be disappointed.
Great stuff, thick and durable and easy to apply. It coats well, gets into every little imperfection, forming an excellent moisture and mold barrier, and sealing off stains and other things that otherwise would have transferred through to the finish coat. With that in mind, it's important to mention Kilz3 is not to be sanded. Doing so will compromise the sealing and primer coating it provides, so wipe it lightly once it's dried if you need to, then apply the finish paint in a timely manner. It will bond beautifully, and it protects from inside and out. I little pricier than other primers, but that's because it is very high quality paint.
KILZ 3 Premium Multi-Purpose Primer covers well and adheres nicely, but I found that it required multiple coats to fully hide the old color and stains. Once applied, the finish was smooth and ready for paint, and it dries fairly quickly. Good quality primer, but plan for extra layers on tricky surfaces.
The first picture you will see is the watermarks that I need to cover up. The second picture is with the first coat of paint. The 3rd picture is the second coat of paint I put on.
I really didn't like this paint very hard to work with very sticky I was told that it covers well I used a whole gal. on sub flooring in a room 10'X11'. 5" I believe it's supposed to co ver 200 sq ft easily.. you definitely have to do several coats to completely cover had to open second can
For the cost of the small can I'm not sure I would recommend it to others based on the application. Needed about 5 coats of this prior to applying a finishing paint. Dries fairly quickly and goes on smooth, but doesn't do well hiding discoloration, so multiple coats were needed. A little does not go a long way.
I paid more for the Kilz 3 but it took two full coats to cover the green I started with. It's a good product and super easy to apply. The second coat really looks great but I thought it would cover in one coat. A LOT of work. I don't know if there really is a difference in the 1, 2, or 3. It cost me about a hundred bucks to primer a small bathroom.
The can of primer arrived in a brown bag. (So the delivery person had no idea what the can looked like.) Once I took it out of the bag I could see it looked like it had already been opened and used by all the dried paint dripping down the side. Since I needed it asap for a project that couldn't wait, I opened it and found it was almost full so I just kept it and used it. It does work great! I needed to cover a black wall. One coat of this and then one coat of white paint with a primer included in it and no black shows through at all. But I couldn't believe someone bagged this can and sent it out for delivery! If it wasn't for the fact that it was almost full and it worked well I would have given it 1 star.
The product was probably fine but it had leaked into the shipping box. I will return it as soon as I get a printer to print out some of the information. Don't get me started. Printer was ordered several days ago, maybe over a week ago and it still hasn't arrived.
This paint was so bad that my painter could not use it. It apparently had been setting someplace where it had become "unstirrable" and so chunky that it couldn't be blended. I would like a refund.
