Unfortunately it leaks so people have to make sure that the base of the pouring spout is as high as it can be before closing it down. Also it looks at top of the added piece that goes on the end of the metal spout, it leaks from the top of the piece!
This Jerry can is NOT like the military ones. It doesn’t sit flat, it leaks unless the spout is on just right. This is no place to secure the spout. All that being said. Placed in a Jerry can holder solves the “sitting flat” problem. A small chain with a clip solves the problem”no place to secure the spout problem”. And attention to details solves the leaking problem. It is what it is; a fuel can.
i stored gas in these for many months. The Storage Seal is very good. They Do Buldge Out, Way Too Much when the Temperature Rises!!! They Do Suck in, Way Too Much when temperature falls!! They Leak Terribly around the Base of the Pouring Spout Seal. So Much Gas Leaked at the Seal, i had to Stop Pouring!!! (Every Can Leaked). i Truly Wish that i had Never Bought them!!! i Hope that the Company Contacts Me with a Solution!!!! Please Contact Me With a Solution??? i Will Update My Review if the Company Offers Me an Acceptable Solution. Thank You!
These Jerry cans will work best for ultra light duty or occasional use only. Very thin steel with poor quality welds and paint coating. Whether filled with gasoline or left empty, the sides or these cans will significantly bulge out during warm summer days, creating pinch points that will inevitably leak.
The spout leaks where the rubber grommet is under the spout. Made quite a gasoline mess. Bad construction and rubber grommet is very bad fitting and bad design. Wouldn’t recommend. I will have to use without the spout and use a big funnel or try to modify it. Ugh
Very low qualify, the spout doesn't lock to the can well, and I ended up with more gas on my pants and shoes than in the car, on top of that, Walmart wouldn't take it when I tried to return it, I left it open for 2 weeks to air up, but it still had a slight smell of gas which is expected, but they wouldn't take it back as a result, so I'm stuck with it.
I purchased two of these 5-gallon gas cans from Walmart. At first glance, they appear well built and seem like a good value. Unfortunately, that impression didn’t last past the first use. When pouring gasoline, both cans leaked at the seal where the nozzle attaches. The standard lid seals fine, but once the pouring nozzle is installed, the seal fails and fuel leaks immediately. This happened on both cans, so it’s not an isolated defect. Without a working, leak-free nozzle, the gas can is essentially inoperable. Pouring fuel safely is the entire purpose of the product, and it fails at that basic function. I should have read the reviews beforehand. It’s frustrating that something so simple is executed so poorly. Both cans are being returned.
this item leaks horrifically. after less than one of sitting has for our generator, it sitting a leak in the side of the can and spilled fuel all over the floor. avoid this can, it is a major fire hazard.
This is super cute (that's what counts with gas tanks, right? )... but the seam around the tank makes it impossible for it to sit level on the ground, it teeters to one side or the other. I thought it was an imperfection in the first tank I received and returned for another, so it's definitely something with the design.
Do not buy this gas can. I bought 4 of them thinking I got a great deal with them being so inexpensive. Huge mistake and headache. The cans themselves are nice, but the spout and the lid are horrible. Despite having a rubber seal, they do not seal at all. Gas spilled everywhere on the way back from the station. Only live 1 mile from gas station. It got even worse when I tried to attach the spout to pour the gas out. Gas dripping everywhere. There is no way to tighten the connections. I ended up emptying all 4 and returned them to the store. The store gave me a hard time because they were "used" and even though they aired out for 4 days and were empty, they still smell.
