Learning Resources Alphabet Acorns

My son is 3 years old and this alphabet acorns set has been a great tool for learning while playing. Each acorn has a letter and a matching figure inside, which helps so much with visual and motor skills. It's colorful, sturdy, and super fun. He loves opening and closing the acorns and sorting the objects by color and letter. I really recommend this for little ones learning the alphabet.

My 3 year old loves playing with these! I recommend getting a little basket to store them in! Tons of little pieces that can easily get lost. We only take these out for a more structured play time and put them back immediately to good loosing any of the pieces! They are also very easy for little hands to open and put the lids back on the acorns! If you are a Ms. Rachel fan these are the same ones she uses in her Alphabet video! Some of the items in the acorns are a little different from the ones she uses though!

My son was so excited to use this educational toy from the moment he saw it! We received alphabet acorns for free from Learning Resources in exchange for an honest review. My son is 5 and going into kindergarten this fall. I wasn't sure how to help him learn his lowercase letters and sounds of letters but this toy helps with everything! There are so many different ways to use the alphabet acorns and that's what I love the most! When we first opened the toy we put the toy pieces into the corresponding acorns, this took awhile but actually kept my sons attention (which is hard to do)! The next time we played with it, I took the tokens out of the acorns and hid the acorns around the yard, my son found them, told me the letter on the acorn, and then matched the token to the corresponding acorn. We also took the acorn tops off of a few at a time and matched the uppercase letter to the lowercase letter on the top and talked about letter sounds. This educational toy seems so simple but I was actually amazed by the many ways we could use it to learn! My son loved showing me how much he knew and certainly felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. I would recommend alphabet acorns to anyone with preschool or kindergarten aged children!

I really love that this can be used in a variety of ways and seemingly for a range of ages as well. My daughter is 3.5 and was able to realize this in certain areas, matching, colors, etc. I feel like once she learns letters a bit better she will be able to also figure out which characters go to what letter and this will make it even more useful for years to come. I love that the acorns are firm and the lids are pliable to where you can squeeze or manipulate them a bit to get onto the acorns.

This is a really engaging activity for both my 3-year-old and 5-year-old grandkids. The use of both upper and lower case letters is clever. The objects are fun to ID and match to the correct letter. My only complaint is that the letters on the dark brown "acorn" can be hard to see.

My grandson and I like playing with these. Great for encouraging letter association with words. Tops are easy to remove but difficult to get back on and closed. He loves pulling out the objects inside and then finding other objects that start with the same letter.

This toy is so simple, yet provides so many ways to play. We actually were using Easter eggs prior to receiving this toy as a way to learn and sort colors and objects, etc. so when we got this Acorn toy, it was perfect AND added the element of learning the Alphabet into it. Our toddler can sit there and play for quite some time just opening and taking things out, and putting things into these acorns. We are also using them as an "acorn hunt" game (similar to Easter egg hunting!) and having our toddler find all the purple acorns, or the blue, etc. and it keeps her so entertained. The only downside to this toy is that some of the objects don't fit easily inside of the acorns, so our toddler gets frustrated when she can't close the acorn lid unless the object is at a very specific position.

Thank you Learning Resources for the Alphabet Acorns Activity Set! The set came with acorns for each letter of the alphabet, and while I was expecting for the toys to already be inside of the acorns, my 3.5 year old son had so much fun helping me put them inside. Each day this week, he's come home from school and this has been the toy that he has immediately gone to. I love that they help teach upper and lower case letters to my little one, and the toys inside are great to start teaching him the sounds of the letters. One tip that I have is to use the provided instructions when you're first putting the toys in the acorns. Some of them can be mistaken for other things and the instructions clearly state which toy is for which letter. The only downside is that the tops of the acorns can be a little tough to snap on, but I'm sure over time it will just help with my son's dexterity.

Although my granddaughter loves this, due to poor execution of the color combinations its main function is impaired. The paint color for the letters nearly disappears into the brown background color of the plastic of the acorns. I plan to buy a narrow-tipped sharpie marker to outline the letters so we can actually see them without needing to closely analyze each one.

I typically love Learning Resources toys, they are always well made, and this one is no exception. Unfortunately, neither my 2 or 4 year old were interested in this toy. My 2 year old took off every lid and that was all she did with it. The tops of the acorns are incredibly difficult to put back on and it just creates way too many small pieces to pick up (there are 78 between the tops and bottoms of the acorns and the little figure in each one).
