I would buy this again!!

Karen July 5, 2017

My school's OT (occupational therapist) loaned me her Froggy set so my kindergarten students could strengthen their fine motor muscles in prep for handwriting. I've decided I want to invest in one for myself. The frogs are fun and engaging, and the students need to use two different finger grips to "catch" and then "release" the flies. I would hear my students say, "My hand is getting tired," which told me they were exercising their muscles. For good technique, help your students understand they need to use their fingers (not their whole hand) to open the frog mouth. Otherwise they are using gross motor, rather than fine motor muscles.

Great Froggy Fun Game

alienpsychomom October 20, 2014

I'm doing a review on The Fun Froggy Feeding Fun Activity Set. Please Check out my video on this game. Showing it in real times really gives a better picture of it. The two Frogs are made of plastic. If you play with them for a while before you give it to your child it will soften it up so they are able to squeeze it. They are as big as the palm of my hand. You can just play with the frogs themselves. They are green with large white eyes protruding from it's head. Squeezing the frog is good for motor skills in finger and hand strength. There are two soft dice. One dice has different square colors on it. The other dice has numbers on it. They are about one and a quarter inches square. There are 60 flies. They are red, yellow, orange, green and purple. They are made of a soft foam. They are bendable. They are just a little over one inches. All the colors are fun and vibrant. Kids love that. Their are so many different ways to play with it. You can have the Frog pick up the flies by color are just by numbers of them. You don't have to play with both dice. One is for learning colors and the other one is to learn how to count. The object of the game it to see how many flies each child has at the end of the game. All flies should be used. Whoever has the most flies at the end wins. It is a lot of fun and entertaining.

Great for building grip strength.

LiannaK January 7, 2014

I bought this game to help strengthen my son's hand grip and to reinforce his hand-eye co-ordination. We found the frogs easy to squeeze but my son is eight years old so he is stronger than the recommended age group for this game.

Froggy Feeding Fun is a good teaching resource

Anonymous December 30, 2014

Welcome to the world of Learning Resources, a successful and well-known educational company making educational toys for children. This review is of the Froggy Feeding Fun set. It consists of a 65 pieces that includes 60 spongy "flies" of various colors, 2 soft and very green rubber frogs, 1 numbered die and 1 colored die, plus an activity book for you (the parents) to read and to use in guiding the children on how to play and getting acquainted with the various pieces. Parents, you need to show the children how to play the game, so that the final result of building muscle strength is achieved. Help them become accustomed to the frogs and the flies to encourage participation in playing. You can do this by giving them enough time to familiarize themselves with the different pieces, before starting to do the activities. The activities are listed in the guide book and are very easy to read, to understand and to teach. Once taught, your children will be able to play on their own. There is a warning on the box for a choking hazard and to limit the game to ages 3 years and older. My only concern is the strength needed to open the froggy's mouth when playing the game. I'm just weak and puny, so y'all should do just fine.

Hard for 4 year old to use

Kim February 26, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 4 year old has a hard time squeezing the frog. I purchase this as a motor activity to improve grasp, but I'm not sure it will be used for the original purpose.

Cute but not functional as advertised....

ksbest December 22, 2014

Although the pieces of this game/activity set are cute, the lack of functionality is a huge blunder on the part of the manufacturer. The contents of the box are comprised of 65 pieces which includes 2 plastic frogs, 62 foam flies, 2 foam dice and one instruction booklet. The description on the box of this game touts that use of the frogs can help preschoolers (age 3+) with fine motor skills- specifically cutting skills and writing skills. This couldn't be farther from the truth. I was terribly disappointed as I could barely even get the frogs to open their mouths. My three year old thought the frogs were cute but was less than thrilled when she discovered she couldn't get the frogs to open their mouths to "eat". The plastic that was used for the frogs is just not pliable. I kept thinking this would change with use, but unfortunately it did not. Another downfall is that the frogs don't have any room to hold more than one or two flies. I wish the manufacturer would have designed the frogs so that that they could hold more flies. I know it sounds silly, but it's impossible to play a game with a three year old when the flies won't stay in the frogs mouth. This game just doesn't work correctly. I did like that the manufacturer made all of the pieces brightly colored and fun to look at. If anything, we had a good time laughing at the frogs and flies as we worked on colors and numbers. I would not be able to recommend this to anyone. Again, it's cute but we really wanted this toy to help strengthen little hands for cutting and writing and this just didn't make the grade.

:(

a January 20, 2015

The frogs mouths are much too difficult to open. There is no way my preschooler can use it as directed when I can't squeeze it hard enough to open its mouth to pick up a fly.

Very Disappointed with This Learning Toy

MyGramma October 15, 2014

The idea is great but the quality of this set is very poor in my opinion. 1. The small pieces that are suppossed to be "flies" are foam shapes with ink stamped image of a fly. I'm not at all sure the inking will last through many sessions with little hands, and even though the packaging DOES say there is a "choking danger" we all know some little ones are going to put these small pieces in their mouths, and there is NO warning what-so-ever about the ink! 2. The instruction phamplet included and the photos on the box, show a childs hand holding the frogs and indicate that a child could squeeze the frong in such a manner as to simulate the movement of a hand holding a pencil. The frogs are very very firm rubber like material and even I could not easily squeeze the frog in this manner. If you can't squeeze the frog to open it's mouth (which is nothinig more than a slit in the surface) then the 'flies" can NOT be held or inserted. 3. The two "dice" inclued both have the same "inking" of images on the same kind of foam and I have the same concerns as with the flies about the possibility of the inking coming off on a childs hands. Overall, a good idea, but very poor implementation and design. I can not reccomend this one.

Looked Interesting but Falls Short

treky999 December 28, 2014

The Frog Feeding Fun game looked like it was going to be interesting, especially since my kids love frogs. You receive 2 plastic frogs, a bag of foam "flies" of different color and two dice, one with the different colors and the other is a number dice. There are two ways to play. The first is with just the number dice and the flies. You roll the dice and pick up the number of "flies" you rolled on the dice. when all of the "flies" are gone you count how many "flies" each player has and the player with the most wins. The other game is with the color dice, "flies" and the frogs. You roll the color dice and pick up the "fly" that matches the color and put it into the frog mouth by squeezing the sides. This was very hard for my youngest to squeeze the frog mouth open. Plus you are lucky to get two or three "flies" in each frog. This was very disappointing to my kids and me. The frogs are very hard to squeeze open the mouth as well. They reminded me of my dog chew toys. I think if they redesign the frogs to hold more and squeeze easier this could be fun for a 3 to 5 year old range. I do not recommend this game as it falls short of my expectation. My kids stop playing with it after one try.
