This Premium Coco Coir Peat Brick is truly high quality peat that is comparable to peat moss without all the sticks chopped in. I've been using coir for several years, it's the perfect medium for seed germination. The compressed bricks expand when you add water and are easy to store and work with. This is a terrific buy and not using peat which is not a renewal be resource. weed free, bug free, renewalbe, inexpensive, easy to use, sterile for seed starting and wonderful to add to potting mixes.

I like the control I have making my own potting mix for my raised beds and grow bags. I soak the coco coir first then some garden soil, some vermiculite and a little granular fertilizer. My "recipe" varies slightly depending on whether it is used in beds or bags and on what veggie I'm growing. At any rate, I love being able to adjust the recipe and watching the veggies thrive in my creation! The coco coir tones down the garden soil and makes the mix lighter, fluffier and more conducive to great plants!

warm water definitely helps de-compress the bricks. But the water does add quite a bit of weight to it. I added perlite from Walmart (3 bags for $15) to get a great seed starting mix!

I like the individual blocks so I can have some ready but only use the amount I want when needed, very convenient.

Bricks hydrate fairly quickly and produce a nice peat substitute. They don't seem to be as highly compressed as some other brands (why they hydrate faster), and I suspect they might have a slightly lower yield of finished product. I may be wrong on yield as I haven't purchased coir in 2 years.

This product is used for worm bedding. It is easy to prepare, and the worms like it.

there was no identification of the brand of dirt on the blocks or anywhere on or in the package

Bought 8 block bundle. Was sent 1 block 1 lb. Not enough to do anything with. I paid for 8 of them. Was returned. This is a third party company that apparently hired low iq employees doing shipping.

I received four bricks packed in the plastic. made in China.. nothing that resembles s picture in the Internet.
