The whole fold-out book idea is genius; they are like tiny windows to the wizarding world. This particular set is one of my favorites of the series because this is the one that gives off the most Hogwarts-like atmosphere with its arched windows and overall esthetic. I also love the minifigures in it; especially McGonagall. I highly recommend this set.
My 7 year old liked this Lego and has 20 sets. I think this one was a little overpriced in comparison to some of the similar size lego ( in terms of pieces) sets, but it was easy to follow and goes well with the newer charms and dueling club sets too!
Enjoyed clipping this together and bought the four I could find. Pity the other two were deleted , but makes a great display
Although this is a small set I just love the details in it! The set is great and a must have for any Harry Potter fan!
Item arrived quickly and well packaged. Found the item on sale as well. I have not yet opened it as it's a gift but I anticipate it being good quality. I would order again.
I purchased all 4 of them. An awesome idea and definitely reminds me of the movies. I love the mini figures that came with them as they seem to pay tribute to the Hogwarts class professors. They are also a nice decor for your bookshelf. Definitely recommended. (Even though I encountered a slight problem; I received 2 of the same book page brick piece instead of the one with the printed Hogwarts logo, see pic)
I was looking forward to this set, not because I am a huge Transfiguration fan - which I am not, incidentally, but because McGonagall has never so far been offered a classroom, at least not in the latest Lego series. It is a nice set, but that's about it. Love the idea of the four books, but it is hard to get Transfiguration right, since it's really actually 'only' spellwork, like Charms. I was actually hoping (against hope, as it happened) to get a cat version of McGonagall. Her taking her Animagus form in the films (that is not how it is in the book) for the first lesson is iconic if not canon. That is my big disappointment. However, the design of the set is very Gryffindorish and I love the blackboard and the wall along the book spine. Also the fact that McGonagall has hair. That's a really cool thing. I think it sort of fun that the actual veraverto spell is used on the board to turn a frog into a glass and not a rat as it is in the story, but the rat is there too if one wants to carry on without variations. Plus a yellow frog is not exactly the most commonly seen Lego frog :) On the whole, not bad, I'm not over the moon, but I am overexcited to build Potions and Herbology (those are my favourite classes along with Care of Magical Creatures).
I love those Hogwarts moment sets. I have all 4 and would recommend them. They are fun to build, great value for money and I like how you can display them in different ways. The reason I am taking one star off this one is I think they really miss a trick by not having the cat version of Mcgonagall also.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have a Harry Potter fan in your house, they are going to love these Lego sets. We got the Hogwarts Moment: Transfiguration Class set & my grandkids had a lot of fun putting it together so they could act out scenes from the movies. The box shows that there are 240 pieces (we didn't count them but there are a LOT!). They come in 2 bags that are numbered so it is easy to figure out where to start. The picture instructions were easy to follow & they got this done in a couple of hours. Besides building the pieces of the classroom, this set includes 3 figures: Professor McGonagall, Ron Weasley & Hermione Granger. This set looks really cool displayed on a bookshelf or dresser but if you want to put it away, all of the individual set pieces can be snapped onto the classroom background so that it closes like a book to keep everything stored inside so nothing gets lost.
I purchased 3 of these book classrooms (Potions, Herbology and this) and this is by far the less impressive of the 3, though way better than Charms which I didn't bother getting. The upside is the Professor McGonagall figure is one of the best figures Lego has done. Sadly the classroom is a let down. There is very little there and is disappointing. The items that are there don't really fit in with the class. But I'll modify it and make it better myself.
