This is a great build. Like real old school Lego and Transformers vibes across it. I changed it slightly I included red side clips for the Matrix of Leadership to hold it in place, with the original it just falls out when the chest is open. With this small change it looks more impressive on display or messing with it. The other thing is, I removed the 3 dot bar on the hands to allow better gripping of the gun and now he's able to point when on display. Fantastic build.

I spent 5 HRS building it since I want to cherish the building process.. it reminds me when I was watching G1 episodes wishing that I have an Optimus Prime toy... now that I can afford it.. after soo many years.. I was able to build my own Optimus Prime.. I'll get another one since the one I have is intended to be displayed with my Lego Collection.. these are my feedback the gap between eyes and the face shield must be fixed.. trying to find a way to MOD it. the head shape and design could be more better.. it is acceptable but I think it can still be modified to be G1 accurate. Headlights should be square Autobot Insignia should be blank on the right shoulders I find the blue color a bit too dark.. it should be more of Blue tone rather than a dark blue hue.. but still works though.. just nitpicking Over ALL verdict.. Lego has done a good job in creating this set.. a true Must have master piece that every Lego collector must have... Can't wait for other Transformers character to be released.. a G1 Ultra Magnus will be awesome since they have prime already as a basis for it.. a big fan of Ultra Magnus than prime

For years children wanted a LEGO Transformer and lo and behold, we got the heroic leader of the Autobots and wow! Just wow! I can't express how fun this set is! Sure, it is expensive, but considering it is a merge with LEGO and Optimus Prime, it is decently priced. But wow! This thing is so much fun! The build experience is so much fun! The thing feels VERY heavy. You can FEEL the price of this thing. The experience was so much fun, with fun facts across the booklet, and the actual product is gorgeous! We have an outstanding array of accessories like the iconic Proton Blaster, a classic Energon Cube, Sideswipe's Jetpack (which opens a world of playability), and the amazing Energon Axe! Sure, the build is a bit out-of-line on the axe, but flipping the blade around does the trick. And let's not forget the legendary Matrix of Leadership And the robot OH MY GOSH! It is GORGEOUS! It captures the essence of Optimus Prime, it doesn't fall apart and has great articulation! Even the hands and fingers can move! The legs are a letdown, but it's passable. But the best thing is the transformation! I haven't had this much fun with such a simple transformation yet so faithful to the robot and vehicle designs! The truck is just as gorgeous as the robot, and you can really feel the weight to it, but it can roll out just fine! But the transformation is so simple you can do it in a matter of seconds and you're not gonna put this thing down as it is so much fun to do! One downside it the waist piece is constantly disconnecting, but it is LEGO so that is to be expected. As a hardcore Transformers fan and Stop-Motion animator, this is a dream come true and a MUST for anyone who has dreamed of a LEGO Transformer! This thing is what you have been looking for! But grab it quickly, this thing is FLYING off the shelves. Looking forward to any other collabs of LEGO and Transformers to bring more Iconic characters in bricks. Worth the money? Maybe a little overpriced, but what you get is a robot, a truck, a puzzle, a warrior, a leader, and a LEGO set all in one. So to me, it is so worth it. I hope you can find yours soon! Senior Lego Joseph Kyde has, The Touch. Lego, use your price raising to give this man more $ for more of these creations. Quite simply, this lego genius has not only captured the design and feel of the original G1 toy, but improved upon it by allowing the hands to stay attached during transformation. A historic piece as the first official Lego Transformer. Some might argue that Bastion from Overwatch was technically the first, but his transformation requires his head to be removed. Still, thanks to this Optimus Icons set, I can see Mr Kydes genius using Bastions Tri-Pod Gun Turret mode as a possible base for Galavatron. I enjoyed building this, I enjoyed transforming this. There is something immeasurably satisfying about building your own working Transformer. This is Lego! This is pure fun. It took me back 40 years to my poor childhood where I had to save for a year to get the original G1 Optimus. Easily toy of the year 2022 if not the decade. My favorite lego piece, and although not as pricey as some of my other pieces, it is simply the best value. Buy this Icon as soon as you can, this Lego Kit is no coming attraction, It's the whole freaking show. 5 Golden stars all round. (Sideswipe next for the Jetpack please. :) I have lots of money now. Lego, this franchise is your next star wars. ) More Lego Transformers = more $$$ (from me anyway)

Purchased this for my 10 year old son, he is a great Transformer fan so obviously we had to have this set, he managed to build most of it with a little bit of help from myself, the set is very impressive when made and looks great in both Truck and Transformer mode.Hope to add more transformers to the collection.

I have been waiting for a Transformers set ever since they released Voltron. They definitely made my day with this set. This set was so much fun to build. It is incredibly sturdy. There is some amount of repetition, considering that he is symmetrical. He transforms almost exactly like the G1 action figure. I'm a little disappointed that there are gaps in the pieces when you transform him into truck mode. But, overall, I extremely loved building this set. I'm hoping they can release another Transformers set.

Overall this was a very fun build and I found it to be a great model. A really decent size and a perfect trip down memory lane. There is only one disappointing element to this build being that the torso continues to come loose. I'm just waiting for it to fall by accident and need to be rebuilt.

Bought as a gift, there's a significant hole PROMINENTLY on the box. Box is factory sealed though and appears to be genuine LEGO, so I'm trusting in the quality of the product inside.

My son has a new game on his pad and so thought this would be awesome to get him to play with. My son is 3 and does not build yet, I am doing the building for now. Building this wasn't super difficult for me but it does not stay together well at all. I have a ton of Lego builds and this just did not meet my expectations for the cost and good luck getting this to turn into the truck. Will not be buying his partner that's available right now.

I couldn't wait to buy this set as I am a huge Transformers (and LEGO) fan, however, I am pretty disappointed with this particular set. It was definitely a joy to assemble but transforming it is nearly impossible without it falling apart. For those who reviewed it stating it was a "solid piece", I strongly disagree. Sure, sitting on a shelf not being touched is appealing (the legs are the only solid piece to this set). I have spent 30 minutes trying to convert it but all it does is fall apart. It's quite disappointing to be honest. My son simply picked it up and was turning it in his hands to view all sides and a few pieces fell off. This definitely is not worth the money in my opinion. I feel that since myself or my kids can't even play with it or convert it without it crumbling to pieces makes this set overpriced and as I mentioned, a disappointment. My kids and I play with and assemble LEGO sets daily. We have over 200 sets assembled and displayed and love adding sets to our collection, however, this is not the first time an expensive LEGO set has disappointed me. Maybe the LEGO company can start creating videos of certain sets to show how to work the different features so LEGO fans/buyers aren't so frustrated and overwhelmed trying to figure it out on their own. I wish I could submit photos of it together but whenever I touch it, it falls apart as shown in the photos.
