Charming and beautiful

Sandnseagrass October 4, 2025

Hadn't built a LEGO set since a few Hobbit sets around 10 years ago. Huge kudos to the designers for the appealing natural warm color palette with the creamy white lighthouse - as well a superb use of small gray pieces and irregular shapes to evoke rocky cliffs. The build - for someone not that experienced - was interesting; took me about 2 weeks building one step at a time during evening TV. I wasn't in any hurry and never got bored. The cottage is so warm and adorable I wanted to move in. It's a "perfect set" IMO; if you could only ever build one LEGO set this would be a candidate, especially for the ocean lover. My one nit would be to encourage LEGO to move to USB lighting/motors, although this could burn motors and lights out faster? I also liked the thoughtfulness that there is a "path" up the lighthouse with the ladders on each level. (It may be silly to need a way to get through a building with a "toy", but that bothers me lol when there is no obvious way to move from room to room). There's even the little gate at the "crow's nest" for the lighthouse keeper to tend to the light. Overall I have the impression the designers spent quite a lot of time looking at real life rocky shores and lighthouses as well as color palettes, and this is an aesthetic winner (including the seagull nest and droppings lol). Of course I had to make use of more LEGO parts to add some "seagrass"; decided there was a whole cat family living at the lighthouse, a few crabs (one guarding the delightful hidden cave which I am sneaking a Jack Sparrow map into; and the hanging bat is hilarious). Plus the lighthouse Captain's friend is bringing groceries as well as a new puppy to play with the keeper's Scotty dog. And a few life preservers instead of the barrel of fish, and so on. (I need to find a turkey for the holiday display lol). If LEGO's saying is "never stop playing", well, this set brought a lot of joy to this ocean lover, and for a relative adult newbie was "just right" as far as build complexity. Delightful, tho I had to backtrack a few times lol. (I hope LEGO comes out with a matching expanded sea cottage one day; with a porch, rocking chairs, sand castles etc.) But it is also a suitable display piece for an adult, thanks to the care in design. It's charming, detailed, clever use of pieces, and I am a bit sad I finished the build. Since I hadn't done much with Lego in over 10 years and nothing of this scale, I am just so impressed with the design and aesthetic (as well as the instructions). For me this was an excellent choice and I've had enormous fun - maybe one day I can build that matching sea cottage with the porch that I imagine!

This set is definitely one of the coolest Ideas sets I've ever built. It is extremely detailed and has to many cool features. It is extremely sturdy and super easy to transport. The motorized features work extremely well and are very easy to connect and to turn on and off. There is almost no repetition. Overall, this set is definitely recommended to any Lego fan.

Exquisite in every way

Landofnirvana November 28, 2022

From the very first sight of this extraordinary build I was captivated and just finished it literally. For me it is a masterpiece of design and fascination. Lighthouses are very important to me and so this stunning model fits so perfectly in my appreciation and awe. Truly worth every penny. Exceptional design and the features are enchanting. Remarkable and probably the most incredible set I've ever purchased from Lego.

Superb

I got this as a Xmas gift from my husband, after months of hint dropping!! This took me all day to build but I really enjoyed this. I love all the intricate pieces and detail. In particular the house has lovely features including the bed and stove. But of course the working light is perfect. Also really appreciated that the motor came with rather having to be a separate purchase

Awesome Build and Display Model

BrickLovinDad65 November 24, 2023

I absolutely loved every aspect of this build. I found it technically challenging at times, which was really great, and the different construction stages and many brick variations kept it really interesting. It's my first motorised model, but hopefully not the last. It's a really eye catching display piece and attracts more comments that most of my other sets.

One of my favourite sets ever

SergeantSentimentele September 6, 2022

Like many people I was kind of surprised by the price point on this set, but my love for lighthouses got the better of me so I bought it anyway. And, oh boy, this set is worth every penny. Such great attention to detail and build quality, and also I'm pleasantly surprised at how well the light works. If I turn off the lights in my room the light beam is very clearly visible on the walls around me. I imagine if I had a fog generator of some sort the whole cone of light would be very beautiful. Also concerning the price/piece ratio, there's a lot of big elements in this set, like the cliffs, big plates, the base plate, and electric components; so that should make it even more worth it for this price.

Land ho!

SlickMick9 September 5, 2025

Such a fantastic set. Yes, it is a bit tedious at the beginning because of all the little pieces, but it is completely worth it in the end. And the little treasure cove hiding the switch for the motor is such an amazing idea, wife couldn't figure out how to turn it off!

Spinning Brilliance!

CarefreeEmmet098 December 26, 2023

I recently had the pleasure of assembling the Motorized Lighthouse LEGO set, and I must say it was an immensely enjoyable experience from start to finish. With over 2000 pieces, I anticipated a potentially repetitive build, yet I was pleasantly surprised that each stage remained engaging and distinct. The initial stages, particularly constructing the bottom layer and the house, were not only enjoyable but also showcased meticulous attention to detail. The intricate elements within the house were a highlight, demonstrating LEGO's commitment to craftsmanship. Assembling these smaller components was both satisfying and rewarding. The inclusion of the motorized light, emulating the rotation of a real lighthouse, is undoubtedly a charming feature. While it adds a unique touch, personally, I found it more ornamental than essential to the set. Its omission might have streamlined the set's value without compromising its overall appeal. Once completed, the lighthouse stands as a striking display piece. Its aesthetic appeal is such that it seamlessly fits into any space within a home—be it an office, living room, or even a bedroom. The versatility of its design allows for placement in various settings, elevating the ambiance wherever it stands. In conclusion, the Motorized Lighthouse LEGO set is a captivating build that boasts impressive detailing and aesthetic charm. Despite the substantial piece count, the assembly process felt surprisingly efficient. While the motorized feature might not be a necessity for everyone, the set's overall appeal and display-worthy nature make it a wonderful addition to any LEGO enthusiast's collection.

Stunning!

KookyWagon099 May 27, 2024

The Lego Lighthouse was/is my dream set. I had read many reviews before purchasing but none of the reviews really did it justice. Unlike some, I had no issue with the motor. It works perfectly (yes a little loud) and is easily accessible for battery changes. I love the use of both lights (fire and lighthouse) because the warm amber glow of the fire is such a beautiful contrast to the bright white beam. The build itself was fun and did not seem repetitive. Although there are only 2 minifigs, the lighthouse has kind of a moody before the storm feel and so two lego souls feels like the perfect amount. Plus the kitty and the seagull were a great addition to the set. It is expensive but, I know the motor and lights make up a chunk of the overall price and to me it was worth it. It truly is a beautiful set and looks phenomenal on display.
