This set is soooo gorgeous! Sure the build is a tad repetitive, but it was expected simply from the looks of it. Having said that, even so, you do get a sense of achievement every time you click one of the plates onto the globe. The finish product is even better than I can imagine, and the rotate mechanism is so smooth, it just makes you wonder how Lego can design it so well. It's a fantastic piece as a decoration as well, and of course, being a working globe it's very educational for my kids as well. So glad I bought this!
This has to be one of the most impressive sets LEGO Ideas has ever released. It is extremely detailed and look amazing when completed. The build is very similar to the UCS Death Star II that came out in the early 2000s. One of the things that I liked about this set is that there were no stickers. All of the pieces were printed. I like that you could turn the Globe just like you would a regular one. I also like the added rubber tires underneath the stand which provide some sturdiness to the build. The biggest flaw about this set is ample amount of repetition. From the stand to the Globe itself, you're basically doing the same thing over and over. I, myself, don't mind excessive repetition. But, overall, I had a lot of fun building this set. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a LEGO your parents won't mind displaying in the family room.
Lego sets continue to get better. The globe goes straight to the top of my list. The ingenuity of the technic construction and the way it all gradually comes together is superb. There are 16 bags so I did 4 a day to enhance my building experience and remove any concerns of repetition. The end product is coloured, beautifully constructed and it spins effortlessly. I love it and couldn't recommend it enough. Will take pride of place in my living room
Admittingly the build experience is a bit boring. Lots of repetition. Obviously since you're building in circles :P But the end result is super satisfying!
I really like it and I enjoyed building it. It may be true that it can be repetitive sometimes. However, we are talking about a globe and I was not expecting any different building/play experience. It's a great ornament for the room.
Ordered this on the day it was released. Loved building it and the end result.
Some reviews mention the repetition. I felt the level of repetition was kept to a minimum, considering the nature of the build, with excellent instructions and the excitement of seeing each part of each continent take shape as you work your way through. The last bag containing the final touches and the answer to the question 'how on earth is this going to finally fit together?' gave a real feeling of satisfaction. It's a big piece. While you definitely wouldn't want to drop it on the ground, the central structure gives it far more stability and less fragility than expected. I learned a lot about how unusual structures could made using pieces I recognise as a fairly casual builder (only a few seemed custom made or 'unusual'). Extremely well designed. I love it!
It is an incredible display piece and has wow some of my guests. Building it was fun however could be repetitive due to achieving the spherical shape. If you don't mind that then definitely get it the globe spins really well and looks really clean no complaints more than happy thank you so much lego for letting me build this 10/10
I enjoyed every moment building this set! I wanted the world map but sadly it retired before I could get it so when I saw the globe set I knew I had to buy it before it was also gone! I have always dreamed of exploring the world and now I can use this globe to mark the destinations that I've visited! Big thumbs up!
It takes a lot to build this. The globe sections are repetitive. You build four wedge shaped pieces in two pairs. The each piece has land added to it before being added to the equator ring. The main problem is the some of the flat pieces don't stay on the backing piece. In the end I had to apply sticky tape on the backs of three pieces to fix them on the globe.
