This player is incredible, it says "Region A" on the box, but it actually plays some imported blu-rays that are definitely not region A. Also, this thing will play all of your old mixed-media discs, meaning it supports virtually every media format in existence. Supports Dolby Vision and HDR 10, and the picture quality is really impressive. My only gripe is that its streaming support is only for Netflix and YouTube, but that's a minor issue when I've got several other connected devices which support a wider range of apps. You can't beat the price either, it was on rollback for $149, marked down from $279, while Best Buy is selling the same model for $199, regularly priced at $299. Jump on this deal while you can!
This 4k blu ray player works outstanding, Top Gun Maverick was an Awesome theater experience. My Samsung 4k player quit working and I'm so glad LG makes this unit that far exceeded my expectations. Very easy to set up in just a few minutes and looks great in my tv stand. Thank you Walmart for a great value and LG for not giving up on 4k blu ray players!
I have been looking to upgrade from the xbox 4k Blu-ray player after realizing im not getting the picture quality I could have. The LG UBKM9 is great and I can definitely notice an uptick in quality over my pervious player. The Dolby Vision presentation is way better than than our previous player. My only complaint is that the remote isn't as responsive as I'd like. Beyond that the HDR presentation is absolutely stunning on every disc I've tried topped off by perfect black levels. Highly recommended. I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.
I have had the LG UBKM9 Ultra HD Blu-ray player for a couple of weeks now and am very happy with it. Unboxing and setup was a snap, although I was saddened to see the packaging incorporated non-recyclable polystyrene pieces. Anyway, the important part is picture and sound quality and this player does not disappoint. For playback it supports 4K Blu-ray disks, Dolby Vision, multiple HDR (high-dynamic range) formats, and 3D disks. Out of the box it has apps for Netflix and YouTube, and I assume more apps might be added via future software updates but I'm not sure. Audio wise the unit is very impressive including support for Dolby Digital and Atmos among others. Via the front mounted USB port one can even play MP3s. The remote control is a routine style and functions, with a couple of added advantages, at least for me. You see, I also have an LG TV (not brand loyalty, just perchance). I was happily surprised when I turned on the player and my TV automatically switched to the correct input. The remote also can control the TVs power, volume, and input all right out of the box! So all in all, I am very happy and would recommend the LG UBKM9. While it doesn't affect my review, I did receive the LG UBKM9 at a reduced price in exchange for writing a fair and impartial review.
Ive only had this player for about a week. So far its functioning as it should. Really needed to upgrade my Blu-ray player to 4K to go with my tv.
I thought I could upload Prime Video onto its content choices, but LG informed me it needed the LG Store app which is unavailable on any of LG's DVD players. Very proprietary and disappointing. Get a fire stick if you want prime. cheaper option
Only streaming is from either Netflix or youtube. I could not find an option to add other streaming options like Amazon Prime,
Not a new product . Scratched on top
Junk! Caveat Emptor. I purchased this player less than a year ago. It has poor coding and a weak CPU. Here is what you might expect. Purchase a brand-new DVD coded "All Regions" and you may find the player lacks the coding to read it and thus will not recognize the disk. I called LG customer service and they were simply: "it does not read that disk" is all. How about you fast-forward a disk it does play = except it will not stop!! The CPU simply locks up and it skips forward......forward.....forward not responding to any function until you finally unplug the power to force it to reset. Clearly you get what you pay for here. I have other non-LG products which have served me well for years. This is the last LG anything I'll buy.
My previous $39.00 DVD player went out after two years of owning it. So after reading the reviews on this model, I thought why not go ahead and spend the extra money on this model. That was a huge mistake. I went through the set up as instructed, turned it on, set up my Netflix account and started watching a program. After 20 minutes into the program the screen started getting pixelated and the player froze up. I couldn't even turn it off with the remote or the button on the box. I had to unplug the box to shut it off. I tried setting the box up with a wired connection, still the same problem. I tried everything I could think of to get this thing to work properly. But failed! I'll be returning this and going back with my cheaper model asap.
