We love corn Beef and Cabbage. We have used other can's of Corned Beef and keep coming back to Libby's because it tastes so much better than the others although Armor's comes close. It costs a little more then most but a little less than Armor. In this day and age every penny counts. Excerpt from "TasteBud's Delight" a cookbook located on www.pennywind.com Irish Corned Beef %26 Cabbage 1 Small head of cabbage chopped (about an inch square) 1 Can of corned Beef 1 Small yellow onion chopped (about an inch square) 1 Table spoon olive oil (a healthy oil) Put burner on medium. Put olive oil in skillet and add cabbage. Turn the cabbage with a large spoon so it is covered with olive oil. Add onions and turn so it is under the cabbage. Turn often until the onions are see through. Add can of Corned Beef, break it apart over the cabbage and turned until it is mixed into cabbage. Simmer (burner on 2 or low) for 30 minutes (turn every 10 minutes). Searves 2 - 4 Serve with cornbread and Ice Tea or Beer
Good pantry item n we use it regularly. we hate the greasy taste of canned corned beef hash.... using this canned beef we make our own for breakfast or dinner.. i prefer fresh potatoes n onions but in a hurry will use canned potatoes that i soak in water to pull out some of the weird taste n onion powder black pepper n ¼ to ½ packet of sazon seasoning reduced salt. use in Mexican dishes ... i do a weird thing of putting the meat in bowl of slightly warm water. takes off some fat n salt n pour off . then add cold water n put in refrigerator (bowl of canned potatoes next to it) sodium is being pulled out. i have a very fine mesh strainer because meat pieces are small or pour off n then put meat in pan n heat low n water will evaporate.. sounds like a lot but do the meat (n canned potatoes if not fresh) first.. then prepare the rest of things to cook n serve food.... *fresh potatoes , i chop n boil a bit till tender, drain n add to pan ...using raw n hoping they cook thru while preparing dish is not advisable
Good source for protein, goo for cupboard storage, easy to prepare as a stew and eat with white rice and crackers on the side.
I really enjoyed the low sodium. It really makes a difference in the taste. Thank you.
Cans arrived poorly packed and dented, which may compromise the seams and impact storage. Three of eight were missing the keys that open them. Also, don't think that this is Libby's standard corned beef except with less salt. It's a different product produced in a different country. It has less salt but more fat and a somewhat different texture.
it did not come with the stick for me to open this happen more then ones you need to till the workers when there shopping for the customers to pleas check that the stick is on the can now i have bough one yesterday and it didn't had the stick to open
Be available at the delivery point. This item (4 count) was left outside my door in direct sunlight. When I opened one of them to cook with, it leaked all over the cutting board and was oozing with grease!
make sure you buy in person if getting from wm I used a shopper and whatever exp dates I got, this stuff made me sick so very very sick
There is no key to open cornbeef
Smelled and taste very bad something has changed with this product
