gesso is used with acrylics and oils I like to use large brushes to gesso my mats so I don't need to use a lot of paint

Reputable product line
Liquitex products are of consistent quality. Theres no strong odor. Theres no clumping. Caps keep the product fresh. Love this smaller 4oz size for doing mixed media projects at cropping events.
