Excellent gift for my 8 year old son!
Who didn't have a Magic 8 ball growing up in the 70's and 80's? I'm not sure who enjoyed this more, me or my son. We really enjoyed our competition to see who could think of up the most outlandish yes or no questions to ask the all-knowing Magic 8 ball. He finally won with "Will there be an apocalypse?" We played together for nearly 1 hour. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My son was very excited to play with this. Once he for the concept of asking yes/no answered questions, he actually really enjoyed it. It is very easy to use. The answers are a little difficult to read at times, due to the answer die not floating level in the liquid. But, if you gently move the ball it will level out. I remember playing with this as a child. My son has been really excited as he walks around asking the Magic 8 Ball questions. It brings back great memories. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This product more than met my expectations. I didn't really know how my six-year-old was going to like it. It seemed a far cry from the high-tech toys he is accustomed to...it almost seemed too simple, in fact (which is exactly what I loved about it). Apparently, he agreed with me, because we have had hours upon hours of silly, crazy, giggle-ly fun. My only complaint is I wished we had one sooner. My 7 year old daughter enjoyed playing with this magic 8 ball. She spent all weekend asking it questions and getting her friends to do the same. I enjoyed watching her play with something I played with as a kid. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My 6 1/2 year old son, didn't quite get the concept that this wasn't a ball to be thrown. Nor did he understand only asking yes or no questions. He did tend to think it told jokes. My husband had a lot more fun with the nostalgia of the toy. It did stand up to being dropped and thrown a few times though! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My 7 year loved this. It was so fun to see him waiting for that perfect answer. He asked everything from "will I like me new teacher?" to "will we have pizza this week?". Everyone else in the house used it too, it was flashback fun :-) I would buy this as a birthday gift for one of my sons friends, for sure. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
My 6 year old son enjoyed asking the Magic 8 Ball questions on a recent car trip. He really liked asking questions and looking for the response. He couldn't read all the responses but that didn't stop him. It was fun for us parents too. Sometimes it was hard to read the response because of how the response landed in the ball. I gave this to my 7 year old son with a brief explanation of how it works. He struggled with asking it only yes or no questions so it lost its fun very quickly. I tried on another day to boost the fun by asking it goofy questions and we both had a great time. After that, I saw him pick it up once or twice and play with it briefly then put it away. More often than not, though, he would bring it to me so I could ask it goofy questions again. Although I had fun playing with him, this is not the toy you want to have around when you're exhausted. Therefore, this may not be the best toy for a kid so young or a mom that works 12 hour shifts. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
