Im very particular on how i make my sweet iced tea. Boil water then add tea bags %26 allow to steep for a couple hours. Then add sugar and water after removing teabags then serve over ice. This product not only simplifies the process it makes it cleaner because the teabags are kept seperate in the machine. LOVE it %26 would highly recommend!
Ive bought 2- the first lasted along tome and this ones just starting its life here- simple to use- the pitcher it small n fits even in the door. U can use aby kind of tea- get creative and mix tea bags, add fruit in the pitcher with the ice, the tea universe is at ur fingertips!
I've used it once every 2-3 days for 2 months so far %26 it works extremely well. Very happy with my purchase. 9 tea bags is my preference. I bought a different additional pitcher to hold the tea in the fridge so I can brew more before I run out. Very pleased.
I bought a Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Brewer that is very similar to this in 2005. They don't make one under that name anymore. THIS ONE is almost exactly the same. Probably about 80% the quality, the pitcher doesn't feel quite as sturdy, but she's serviceable. I bought one for home and the office (trying to reduce soda consumption).
No issues so far. I wanted a smaller tea make from the one I had. This one fits the bill. It's smaller, sleeker and nicer. The pitcher in my old was big enough that all the pieces fit into the pitcher, that was convenient. This one you can't do that but I wanted a smaller. I've only used it once so hopefully it will last me as long as my other one, 10 years and it still worked.
My ONLY complaint... I wish it weren't black. I tried finding a different color. ... About a week after I got it, i had an ant problem. It just freaked me out wondering if one of those things got, on it or in it. Oh... and the thought of mold... Ekk! The pitcher is also a hard plastic, not really a fan. Happy that its a 2qt. but I dont like the handle.
I couldn't get a replacement pitcher for my Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker, so I bought this one. It seems to be an almost perfect clone, and many of the parts are interchangeable. However, the fit of the Mainstay components is looser, quite loose. I noticed that first time pouring from the pitcher and it leaked around the cover. Just got to get used to that, for an appliance I use everyday.
This Coffee maker is great EXCEPT the Pitcher is a Deal Breaker. I have bought 2 of these 1 year apart(so it isn't just a bad batch from the factory). Both of these pitchers cracked in the EXACT same places and the exact same shape and size (on the side and on the bottom). Mainstay or Walmart do not offer a replacement pitcher. So, it is cheaper to buy a more expensive Maker and Carafe somewhere else.
I bought the tea maker to make my life a little easier. Previously I bought a brand new coffee maker and used that to make tea. It went out after a great many uses. For some reason when I make my tea with the tea maker it spoils quickly. I like my tea very sweet, but I make the same way when I use a coffee maker. Anyway, I really wouldn't recommend that you buy one of these.
I bought this to replace a very old Mr. Coffee tea maker that failed. While the steeping basket is identical in design and has the same hole in the bottom, it can't be closed for steeping, whereas the original Mr. Coffee unit basket could be. So the only way to properly steep a teabag is to place it in the pitcher, not in the basket.
