This has become my favorite almond butter! Before I explain why, a brief background: A while back I ran out of my stock of store brand (roasted) almond butter from a different major retailer. And I found out they no longer sold it. I turned to a different cost-effective store brand, but that one had such a strong roasted taste that it was unpalatable. I decided to try this one on a whim. The result was nothing but an immediate hit. The flavor of this is the same as what I remember from when someone first shared almond butter with me maybe 15 years ago. It's completely different than roasted. This does make it somewhat of an acquired taste. Other than almonds and almond oil there are no added ingredients. This was a benefit to me, as I don't care at all for palm oil which is included in many brands. And one will also find that a lot of other brands have added salt, etc., which I was not looking for either. The contents of the jar are easily stirred. It isn't like some other brands are where they become rock hard at the bottom, with arge amounts of completely separated oil at the top. The 16 oz size (versus larger ones) also aids in the stirring process. This is very smooth and easy to spread and eat. Nor have I had any problems with shell fragments or anything like that. I did buy one bottle from a different retailer at one point, and the contents tasted fishy, which seems like it may have been rancid. That may have been due to storage conditions at that retailer, because every single jar I have bought from Walmart has been completely fine. When I most recently made several follow-up purchases of this, I was getting best-by dates 7 months out from when it arrived. That may not always be the case, but it's probably worth keeping in mind that if this is the standard, then it's not likely to be as far out as perhaps some brands advertise. It was at the time on a sale for $8.89. A Walmart 15% subscription discount brought it down to $7.56. (The price has recently gone up substantially, but I can only judge it based off of what I paid at the time.)
RAW is the key here. Taste so much better than roasted. MaraNatha knows how to produce a healthy and quality product. if you love almonds, this smooth butter will satisfy you !
I love the flavor of this almond butter.
Very tasty and much healthier than peanut butter
I enjoy the raw more than roasted. This brand is a must buy!
Maranatha nut butters are a cut above the rest. I have used many different brands, each have a distinctly different flavor, but I most prefer Maranatha's flavor. Bear in mind that this is raw almond butter, so if you are accustomed to eating roasted, it will have a little different flavor. A bit pricey though, but you get what you pay for IMO.
This is the real thing! The nut oil does separate from the butter and needs to be stirred up before using. I prefer the chunky style because I like to have the almond pieces in the butter, I put it on my bagels and toast. haven't tried it in a smoothie yet.
Love the Raw option, a little pricey, but worth it!!
This is the real thing, made with nothing but raw almonds, with that delicious subtle flavor of almond which is lost when they are roasted. My only complaint, two actually, is the price, as raw almonds are unprocessed, which is more cost effective, also there was at least an inch of oil, on the top, and the jar wasn't even full, which amounts to less almond butter than I am paying for. Also it's advertised in glass jars(photo in ad), which is healthier than foods packaged in plastic, however it comes in a plastic jar. Overall, a delicious product, but unless you are a wealthy person,(at 15 dollars for a 16 oz jar, this company doesn't even have the decency to fill up to the full weight)which I am not, this will be a very rare treat for me.
I received 12 Jars, each expired 1 month ago. Poorly packed, with almond oil leaking from several jars. Arrived very hot, like they'd been sitting in an oven.
