I've had this smoker since 2015! It is amazing and have done everything from stuffed jalapeños to turkey wings. It is awesome and easy to use. No way you can go wrong with setting the temp and feeding the wood chips. My family loves everything that comes out of this amazing smoker!
This unit worked like a charm! Easy to set up and learn the controls!
My husband was so excited to get this for Father's Day. It did a great job, held the heat steady and didn't use as much wood chips as others, but still provided a great smoky flavour.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So easy to use, turns any average Joe into a PitBoss with ease. We have learned to smoke pretty much anything, and they all came out beautifully. Some may frown on an ‘Electric’ thinking it simply can’t compare to traditional…I say that’s just untrue. If I can make competition worthy Texas Brisket, it’s doing the job right.
Great unit. New to electric smokers. Very well versed with conventional wood fire box units. Very impressed with this unit. Pro- Precise temp kept. Love the timer. Size and quick to set up and use. Cons- Clean up. Best to use a foil cover over the internal heat deflection. Add wood every 30-45 minutes. That's ok though, just don't forget or you're just baking on low temps with NO SMOKE flavor. Overall, love it and would recommend to anyone looking for a quick smoke session in lieu of firing up the larger wood burn types.
This is a great buy. Takes a lot of tweaking to get desired results (like anything new). The digital controls are convenient but still you need to monitor the interior temp during cooking as the actually temperature varies from the digital display. Suggest using a dual probe thermometer. Adding smoking chips is easy with their unique tray which loads from the outside, no need to open the door. Would definitely recommend this unit.
This was damaged. Delivery was left on front porch. Found a rip in carton and once unloaded there was a circular dent on side of smoker. I contacted Walmart call center to see if this dent ended up affecting it such as rust or perforation caused if they could not the damage. They said I could return item and get a replacement but smoker was already assembled. I needed to use in the next couple of days as family is here. The delivery took seven days for this one. I am somewhat sure this is only cosmetic damage but wanted to be certain Walmart knew it was damaged on arrival. I was told by person answering the Walmart phone they would document. Packaging seemed to be sufficient but this was caused externally.
It took a month to receive this item, though it was supposed to take two. It was delayed over and over and over again. Walmart would not cancel the order or help in any real way. The seller just kept saying it “it is scheduled to deliver tomorrow”… over and over again. Even was offered a $25 coupon. I used it to place and order and the order was promptly cancelled which also caused the coupon to no longer be valid. Customer service told me they would send another…. Nothing. Never received it. Never again!!!!
I purchased this smoker on 11/24/25 at the Cabelas in Verdi (Reno) Nevada. It might work for ribs and chicken, but it's a boat anchor if you are trying to cure meats. The digital controller is 30-60 degrees off. To cure at 165 degrees, you have to use your own temperature probe. I have it set at 130, and it is at 172 degrees. To cure, you will need at least one probe until you can get an accurate reading. If you open the door, the temperature will spike, and you will not know the top-out until it happens. I read about these issues with the digital controller, but had no idea how poorly it works. Cabelas should stop selling these poor-quality smokers and find a quality product to replace them. I almost bought the 40" smoker. I am glad I did not waste the extra money on it, as it has the same garbage controller. As I write, the controller is still set at 130 degrees, and it is now climbing past 172 degrees, that it was holding at when I started this review. It may be impossible to use this piece of junk to cure with.
The dashboard went out only used it 3 times it comes on but nothing happens and can’t use it before it went out it worked great and food was great out of it
