I absolutely love this smoker and have had several over the years. This is my third one and is by far the best one. This comes with a temp probe for large cuts of meat like brisket or pork butt a must have for great BBQ. The best thing that I love about this smoker is you don’t have to tend it like an offset or a Weber kettle (which I have both and I use them all) I like to use this one when I want to smoke something but need to do other things like yard work or work around the house. Set the time and temp, put a handful of chips in it every hour and check the meat temp it’s that easy. This smoker is great for beginners and seasoned veterans alike. There is no excuse anymore, I would highly recommend this smoker and find myself using this more and more over my other smokers. It’s fairly inexpensive and in my opinion worth every penny.
I bought the 40" electric smoker specifically to smoke kielbasa amd other sausage. After about 6 weeks, and 40 pounds of sausage, I'm more than satisfied with the results obtained for what I consider to be a bargain price unit! I use a ThermoWoeks Smoke to monitor internal air temperature amd it is rarely more than a few degrees off the digital readout. My only minor disappointment is not getting smoke below a smoker set point of 185F.
I went from a 40 inch with digital remote and temp probe to this plain, stripped down model only because of price and availability. It smokes ok, just the other and so far only 2 complaints. No place to store when not in use and difficult to level with the cheap feet. BTW, the only reason I needed to replace my old one, was because masterfully no longer had replacement parts especially the chip tray
This smoker is brilliant in many ways. Digital control that allows temp adjustment down to the single degree. Timer allows cooking overnight without oversight. Window lets you watch the product cook. Wood chips are easily put in without losing temp by opening the door. But this will not last forever Consider only having this for 4-6 years before needing to replace it.
Decent for price point. Doesnt hold consisten temp in my experiences so far. Ive been smoking for 20 years, this isnt the best or worst ive used. It will make due now that i know i need to have it on 275 degrees the whole time. Also slows down smoking when youve put a couple trays worth of wood in so plan to dump the ash at least once on an 8 hour smoke but thats explainable.
I've had the smoker for a month now, and used it on a couple occasions. Smoking our meats gives us another option in our family culinary repertoire. I'm still gaining experience with it, but the smoker seems to do a good job of maintaining fairly consistent temperature, and good smoking. A pork loin roast, and a whole chicken have turned out tasty. As recommended in the Owners Manual, I cleaned the unit after each use with mild soap and water. What concerns me, is that the black paint along the the inside edge of the door frame started peeling off with the first use. We'll see how the paint degrades over time. If ours is an isolated incident, then this points to a manufacturing quality issue. If this is more widespread, then this points to a product / process development issue. Perhaps a powder coating finish would work better?
This is my first time smoking and wasn't sure what to expect. The product itself is well made and solid only complaints would be the display is hard to read and it doesn't get hot enough to crisp up the outer layer if that makes sense. Makes me wonder if I could get similar results with oven set low and a pellet box for smoke. Over smoking is real so there's a bit of a learning curve there in how much wood chips to put in. Best results so far are salmon came out really nice worst result beef ribs. I spent 5 hours on those using the 321 method and it really wasn't worth it lol.
Very cheaply built in comparison to my older model. Paint on the inside of the door isn't for high temp environment and peeled and burnt up and ruined my brisket... I will not be purchasing masterbuilt in the future unless the quality is improved
I ordered a Masterbuilt 130S and received the 130B. The "B" is significantly smaller--don't even think about smoking a turkey in this unit. Somehow my order was swapped to a smaller, cheaper unit. Then to add insult, Walmart refused to refund me in full for their mistake! Walmart.com can not be trusted to fulfill an order.
THE ORDER MB174006 TOOK OVER A MONTH TO BE DELIVERED. IT TOOK OVER 3 WEEKS TO GET A TRACKING #. wHEN I BOUGHT THIS SMOKER ON FACEBOOK IT INCLUDED A STAND AND COVER WHICH SOLD ME ON THE PURCHASE BUT WHEN IT WAS DELIVERED IT DIDN'T INCLUDE EITHER THE STAND OR COVER.
