Customer Insights: Rated 4.0/5 from 2223 reviews.
The majority of bad reviews are a result of user error. The unit performs well, when set up and configured properly. I set mine on an elevated surface, slightly tilted back, with the drain tube (from top hole) going into a 5 gallon bucket. It performs well for smaller spaces, and isn't very loud. For anyone considering purchasing one- Bear in mind, this is far less user-friendly and energy efficient than a standard window unit. So if you have the option, stick with a window unit (or *dual hose* portable unit). But for temporary use and portability, this AC delivers. I have yet to test its long-term reliability.
I am a 65-year-old woman who lives alone. I am very happy with my purchase. The only difficulty I had was getting it up 5 steps %26 out of the box. Very easy to install especially after watching a YouTube video. A higher BTU might have been a better choice for the area I needed to cool, but the 5000 btu works great.
I needed an ac unit for a window directly over my front door that wouldn’t give me anxiety that it could fall on a guests head. Also, those ac units hanging out of a window looks trashy. I was skeptical with all the negative reviews of this ac unit just being a heavy, expensive fan. I’m not sure if there is a defect with those units for those costumers, or they don’t read instructions and understand the unit needs to drain the water, and if it doesn’t get drained the unit will only operate the fan. This unit has worked incredibly well for me. I do need to keep an eye on the bucket because it can fill up fast, so there is low maintenance this ac unit needs daily, which is not a problem for me. My 2.5 gallon bucket filled up completely after 8 hours, so I wouldn’t leave this on unattended for a long period of time. Very pleased with this ac unit. Oh, I also put the ac unit within a plastic tub, just in case. It hasn’t leaked itself, but it’s a precaution to protect my hardwood floors if something were to happen. There is a bottom drain plug too that will need to be drained, but I have not needed to do this manual drain yet. That plug just stays in until the unit beeps that it needs drained.
Ordered and delivered in one day. Setting it up only took me like 15 mins. I have mine sitting on my computer desk behind my monitors which sits just above my window sill. I have it draining right into the window sill through a small crack and it's keeping my room at 70 degrees just fine. I'm only on day 1 so we'll see if I have any issues in the future but I'm pleased so far.
The book instructions weren't clear enough. i had to search on the internet and on YouTube for better instructions. The drainage of this AC is wayyyyy to much. I had to get up too many times to empty a large pot throughout the night. Its just too much work.
Product was advertised as new but clearly it was refurbished/used. Upon opening the box and removing the Styrofoam packaging the unit was severely scraped on top. There was water already in the bottom of it, which only occurs if it has been run. The manual/remote package was already opened. I complained to Walmart and they initially offered a %10 refund which was absurd. This thing cost $226. They took it up to %25, which was better. It was way too heavy, bulky, and extremely hot to maneuver it back into the box, to my vehicle, and back to the store for a refund. And then have to wait on a replacement? I think not. It works so far for the room it's in. The noise doesn't bother me. Anything that's not central a/c for this price point is going to be loud. If you need something emergent this unit will suffice, if you're looking for better quality and quiet pay the extra money for a more reputable manufacturer.
Easy to set up and operate. That being said we purchased this to keep our Saint Bernard’s cool. Their house is an insulated 5x8 wooden outbuilding. The windows are closed and the dog door magnetically closes. The small area is barely cool. At 90 degrees today the house was cooler but not tolerable even for me. The thermostat is set on 60. We were very disappointed! We thought this would be much easier than installing the window unit every year. Would not buy the product again, and we are putting the old unit back to work.
I was shocked to find that what I purchased turned out to be a used product missing several parts. When I picked it up and brought it home, I immediately noticed that the remote control and batteries had already been opened and had no packaging. The manual was dirty and had a tear on the cover. The security bracket and two screws were missing. There were only two foam seals instead of the full set. The drain hose and three bolts were also not included. Our home’s AC is currently broken, and the repair technician won’t be able to come for another two days. We bought this unit for temporary use, but unfortunately, it arrived in this unacceptable condition. My wife was very upset and decided right away that we should stay in a hotel for the next couple of days. I’ll be returning this product in a few days. This kind of situation really shouldn’t happen.
Honestly, I’m really disappointed in It works great but and I was emptying it out every day to prevent leakage and now all of a sudden it’s just leaking everywhere and it ruined my carpet. it works great conditioning but now all of a sudden it's just leaking everywhere and it ruined my carpet yesterday and it leaked a second time time this morning. The plug just seems to not stay closed anymore not sure why.
came missing the adapter to the ac and the exhaust pipe so now i have to hunt down and see if i can find one that'll fit. incredibly frustrating i mean how do you miss putting that in the box ?!?
