The Midland EWR 310 is a durable product. Had the unexpected experience of a test alert from NOAA. The Midland produced a loud emergency siren sound along with bright flashing led lights. Quite impressive. Several power options as well. Very practical. Good choice.
I liked the idea of the solar charger along with the hand crank and plug in option. I also like the clock, the radio features, flashlight etc. built pretty well and fairly compact. Antenna is a little hard to pull out, but big deal unit works and receives really well with it in too. We live an hour from nearest large town, and reception with antenna in is fine. Being able to charge my phone from it is nice.
Received the product in a very timely manner and setup was no issue at all. I've had the radio for less than a week and it's already alerted me to a weather event which was exactly what I was expecting. As an Emergency Management Official, it's perfect for the home or anywhere for that matter. Too new to rate the Battery Life, but I don't anticipate any issues.
I have been looking for a weather radio like this one for quite awhile. I live in a tornado prone area and I love that this has both a battery power, a crank, and a solar power option so that I have some form of getting communication even in bad weather. It also has a handy phone charger and a great flash light! I already have it charged and stored in my weather room for any severe weather we experience this spring. The radio signal is very crisp and clear too. A great tool to have for when the weather is bad!
This is my 2nd Midland Emergency Crank Weather Radio. I bought my first in the 1990's and it helped me through many hurricanes and power outages. A couple of years ago I could not get a recharge on the battery (over 25 yrs) and knew it was time for a new one, so now I have it. I look forward to getting to know my new one.
Bought this for emergency usage but using at home. Was surprised with little Sun since we had a Winter storm but still the little sunlight was charging. Impressive. The Hand Crank that always seems to break from others seems to be really strong and useful.
Although I gave it 5 stars, I have only two minor issues. They need to redesign the handle, I can not stand the unit on one end to point the flashlight straight up as a lantern to illuminate a room. Second, the micro usb charging port is hard to get to and hard to see to make sure you are putting the connector in right. I would use some sort of easy round charging port. The flash light is great, throw a very far beam of light at least 75 yards or more! All radio functions great, picks up some stations my other radios can not!
We had wanted a plug-in replacement for an older Midland Weather Alert and thought this would be a good one. Unfortunately, the Midland ER310 Weather Alert Radio does not work well when plugged into a wall outlet. Announcements are not clear and there is static in various locations causing spotty reception. On the positive side, it has a built-in flashlight, is battery or hand crank operated and would be useful for camping, etc. We will keep the unit and place it in a secondary location however we purchased a Midland WR120B - NOAA Emergency Weather Alert Radio which is just what we wanted.
This is a fantastic product! It is the perfect radio to have on hand. If I had one request, it would be really nice to have an alarm clock addition on the clock setting. Also, if you live in a rural area, like I do, or have it in a steel structured building, it is difficult to maintain the Wx band. However, when we went out walking and driving, it was crystal clear. Recommended.
It charges good and has good flashlight. The dog whistle worked well since when I turned it in the dog looked toward me. I couldn't get any receptions for both am and fm
