Minwax Water-Based Oil-Modified Polyurethane, Warm Semi-Gloss, Clear, 1 Gallon

love the easy clean up andno fumes

New to finishing floors picked this after much thought and not really sure. It was worth the time and effort as my floors came out beautiful! 1. Stir can for 10 min if needed to get any residue off of the paint stick it will look like sugar on a spoon stir until clear noting sticking. 2. 220 grit sand paper on a stick just DRAG OVER WITHOUT PRESSURE between coats and before first coat. 3. The wool pad worked better than the foam pad buy both worked. 4. Have someone work edge with brush whike you use pad it dries quick. 5. The second person sees mistakes or bubbles you left behind only work like 3 boards at a time. 6. It is very forgiving! Goes in smooth feels great under your feet. 7. Dont skimp on cleaning and prep work and put all 3 coats on the last one is awsome!!

Stir it well (slowly)…don't shake. Goes on nicely and spreads easily. Very little bubbling…a quick and lite sand in between coats and you are gtg. Dries in about 2-2 1/2 hrs. Made my old floors look shiny and new…and protects them well. For the price this is easily a 5 star product.

I put 3 coats on raw wood without stain, it did need the 3. Looks nice . Ive seen some damage from heavier shelves but I didnt give it the entire week to cure, also the wood is soft ( pine). I also used the Minwax water based poly for floors ( not oil modified), and it seems fine too. I used them on the second floor of a new garage, one product on the left side and one on the right, so well see how they compare. The oil modified seemd to cover better. We shall see.

I am making a red oak table and have used regular poly in the past. This one is amazing, it is easy and clean to apply. You just need to make sure you don't apply it too thick. Unlike other polyurethane I have used in the past this one didn't drip at all. Very easy to use and even easier to clean up with water and soap.

First I want to say that as a professional wood flooring refinish contractor myself, I personally "Love this product!" . It is durable, easy to use, self leveling, and cost effective. It allows me to do all my coats (3) , in 1 day. this makes me money. This product is also great for it's low odor. Customers are overjoyed that there are no heavy fumes like a traditional polyurethane

Most of the complaints I see about this product have to do with application errors or inexperienced finishers..I have used this product for years and it's excellent. It has the color benefits of a solvent based urethane (yes that;s a PLUS) especially on wood like Cherry, Walnut, Mahogany, etc...I spray this product with an inexpensive HVLP spraygun and once adjusted properly it gives excellent results, dries quick,flows out well....even pads well on repairs or smaller projects. The best part is clean up with water!

For some reason this was recommended for painted floors, but it's way too watery. You would have to apply 10 coats to protect high traffic floors. I gave it 3 stars because it didn't turn yellow when painted on white paint like some other top coats did.

Actually, we did not use this product. We opted for Minwax oil-based urethane. The modified urethane sounded good on paper, low odor, water clean up etc., but reviewers have stated that it was difficult to apply. We are completely redoing our knotty pine den (including the ceiling), and we didn't want to take the chance on a sub-par finish. A small project might be fine for the modified Oil/Water product, but with all the work involved, why take a chance? The minwax oil based semi gloss glides on like butter. Beautiful, even after just one coat!

The item had been partially used and returned. The product was spillied all over the lid and can. I declined to accept but was billed nontheless.
