perfect in every way %26 great seller
I used this product for planting my flowers in my flower bed and flower pots for outside.
I grow everything in this soil without hesitation. I never buy the cheap value soils…I've learned my lesson. My plants thank me everyday! Look at my beautiful flowers!
Garden soil for Flowers is beautiful. Black, moist, feels good in your hands. Waiting to see how my plants produce in this soil.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I planted a little early for the central states but my seedling took very well for the very cool spring. I'm even getting flowers already. Also planted rose bushes but it a little to soon for results on them. Glad I tried this product.
Purchased two bags of this soil today. Opened the first one to use planting some flowers. I took out about the top eighth of the bag to use in planting. Quickly discovered it was full of large pieces of wood, I mean large. Also, a couple of pieces of plastic. What there wasn't was any sign of any kind of moisture control or fertilizer for the plants. This is plain old ordinary dirt, and not even good dirt. Very upset that I spent money on this product.
I bought many hundreds of dollars of this "purple" bag Garden Soil and Raised Bed soils. I used it in freshly made raised beds AND also in grow bags cause I didn't want too light of a soil for the bags... Just one small raised bed took 10 bags and...and I have a several other beds that I started and plantings in grow bags. MISTAKE. My plants with this soil...veggies and flowers...just sat there...barely grew AND after a few weeks they all showed signs of nitrogen deficiency. It is marketed to "fertilize" up to 90 days. I honestly do not think the fertilizer part is effective at all in any of the soil I purchased of this brand. I did wonder...is it only good for 90 days AFTER bagged or 90 days after planting. I'd say less than a few weeks. I am a old gardener and grow most of my food for at least 50+ years. This is NOT dependable for fertilization and I'm not sure if it is helpful with moisture control. When I started noticing a problem I went to another brand and not a bit of a problem with my starts or direct seeding. SO I have had to resort to supplementing fertilizers and all the signs of nitrogen deficiency have gone and plants are growing. NOW I learned not to buy more expensive soils with "fertilizer" and just buy the bargain stuff and add my own fertilizer and not depend on such as this.
I used about 65 bags of this soil. One thing I discovered is that most the of bags contain a light colored dry caked material I had to break up to get it to spread. And a few of the bags contained very moist darker soil that scooped up more like manure. After a couple of weeks, the seeds I planted are going nowhere in the lighter colored soil. However the darker/moister soil is producing seed sprouts. My seeds are sprouting only in the darker soil. I'm getting nothing in the lighter soil - which is about 95% of my soil. I'm very disappointed in the results (basically no results). I uploaded a photo showing the darker/moister soil next to the lighter/dryer soil. You can plainly see the only seeds that are sprouting are in the darker soil. I don't recommend this product unless you can find the darker/moister soil. They seem very rare - about 1 out of 15 bags. I'm not sure why they're different or why the more rare darker soil is the only soil that works. It would seem to me that Miracle Gro would make all the soil of the same formula. My only success (about 7%) is from the darker soil. I don't recommend this product.
This is really mislabeled and not suitable for potting soil. It's more like mulch. It's a smelly mixture of coarsely composed wood and the one bag I opened had flakes of plastic bags. I had to mixing the contents of this bag with some of my own compost and garden soil.
