Miracle-Gro Perlite, 8 qt., Improves Drainage and Aeration in Potting Mixes

Miracle-Gro Perlite is really good. They're small, but keep their shape in the bag for the most part and aren't just dust. Walmart's price is slightly better than Home Depot's, so I get them from here. I mix it with either Miracle Gro potting mix or Walmart's Expert Gardener potting mix. My potted plants do well with it. Recommended.

Trying my hand at green thumbing. I did a web search of the best way to plant succulents and it said to us a 50/50 mix of "succulent or cactus" soil and then "perlite"....I think it helps the roots "breathe" or something. This is the "PERLITE" and in the pot it's mixed 50/50 with cactus soil.

Keep it wet or moist as you use the perlite, easy to handle, light in weight, of course, love this product, will use it again this growing season. Let's see how hot it can get hot.

I had been trying to propagate plants by rooting them in potting soil and was only getting 30% of my cuttings to root. I learned about successful propagation using Perlite and decided to give Perlite a try. The success of my cuttings went up to 90%. Almost every cutting rooted. Now I have to see how they do in soil, but I’m thinking I will have success. I would definitely try Perlite for propagating plants.

Perlite is a Necessity for growing vegetables in pots. It helps with proper drainage so your vegetables will flourish without rotting at the roots. Without proper drainage your hard work is just a waste of time!

Miracle-Gro has changed not only their look, but their quality. This soil now has a lot of very fine sand in it, which leads to water retention, not drainage; not good for cacti and succulents. It also now has more tree bark and shredded wood in it, and was very dry upon opening the bag.
