I add this into my flower and vegetable gardens and it really helps to amend my clay like soil. This lets the roots grow freely and makes watering a breeze.
Works really great for newly planted grass seed. Neighbors pass by commenting how fast the grass is growing. Highly recommended.
Everyone who stops by raves about my gardens and I have many. The entire front of our house is all garden with little pathways. I use both Miracle Grow Potting Soil and Miracle-Gro Peat Moss. I never put in a plant without both mixed together. I dig a large hole, have my wheel barrow full of Potting Soil and Peat Moss mixed together. Once the hole is dug, I fill it half way full of the mixture, pour in a watering can of water and plant my plant. Then I fill the rest of the hole with the combination of potting soil & peat moss, add more water so the roots are moist and then mulch the soil around the plant. I have never lost a plant doing this. In fact, my plants thrive and are even more lush next year because everything in the ground is a perennial. I accent my garden with colorful potted annuals. Thanks to the wonderful Miracle-gro products that I purchase every year locally.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am adding Dahlias to the garden this spring and desperately needed to amend my soil. I have 6 inches of dry, worthless top soil and under that is clay. I dug down to the clay and worked in some steer manure along with Miracle-Gro Sphagnum peat Moss! I was really impressed with the texture of this product. It worked into the clay and top soil without clumping. This product will also help with the drought that we are having in our area.
I use this to line wire baskets. Then poke holes where I want the plants to stick out of the sides, slide a small plant with soil into the hole . The moss holds water really well. Great for bromeliads and Urn plants.
This has been a great amendment for my tropicals. Makes watering easier. I have always seen good results with germinating and growing palm seedlings. My indoor Cycads love this with some perlite mixed in.
I had collected few sanseveria roots. Since these are succulent plants - I wanted something that stays moist but not heavy. Potting soils tends to compact easily. I mixed peat moss with perlite and got good results. sanseveria's started rooting within few weeks.
I have used this peat moss in both my garden bed and container It help keep my soil moisture and keep down the weed. I have been you this product for about 4 years now and I am happy with it result.
Unfortunately much of the peat moss had to be picked through because there were many sticks and stems mixed in. I have never seen this much in a bag before so I can probably just say this was an unlucky bag
I opened up my moss and wet a bit in a bowl and as soon as I did the gnats flew out. GRRRR. So as for quality, I rate it poor for that reason only.
