Affordable CarPlay for an older car

MrsCurlitop82 July 26, 2025

Excellent for Apple CarPlay, especially at this price! Haven't figured out the rest of the features, or whether or not they work, but it has added eyes-up navigation, phone, and media control to our non-screen car. It's not large, but it's out of the way and not too small. It has its own speaker so that we can continue listening to the radio, but it plays through the aux input when we want better sound. If it does give you a hum like I've seen in some reviews, make sure to get a ground loop isolator.

For anyone looking for a smaller aftermarket apple play screen you cannot beat the miroir it took me 5 minutes to plug in and get it set up on top of that I use it a lot for navigation with my older vehicle and it has very quick reactive screen with the cost it is definitely worth the time and money

Good for the price (if you get it on sale)

Brenden May 14, 2025

Honestly, core functionality works much better than I expected for what I paid ($40 at the time.) There is a slight issue if running through aux for output where you need to switch between speaker and aux or the sound is essentially muted. There is a slight delay and the brightness settings really don't do anything. Aside from that, great experience so far and much cheaper than getting a whole new head unit for an older car.

CarPlay review

Levi April 17, 2025

I like the system and it works well but I don't like the way it place music from the unit after I turn the volume in my car off to talk to someone do then j have to go on my phone and pause the music but other then that everything on it works fine I like it and it helps me when us in a map for directions

Good for price point

anonymous April 15, 2025

A little slow compared to other similar products but seems appropriate for the price range. I like the smaller screen size as I don't have much room in my FOV for anything larger. Just wish it ran a little smoother in maps but it's still very functional. The usb charger isn't a c type, no problems just be aware it's not as fast as some of the modern chargers.

Does the job, but at full price naaaa.

Zach March 1, 2026

I bought this item on clearance and if it's your only option to because of your budget, then it'll do the job. It does have a nice screen, but I'd go with the 7" model if you go with this brand. The auto dimming feature doesn't appear to work on my model, even after resetting it. This means a few extra steps depending on the time of day. There doesn't seem to be a way to update the firmware, or at least from what I can tell. Overall though, if you're on a tight budget and find this on clearance like I did, then by all means go for it. Otherwise at full price I'd go with other models either by this brand or others like Dual.

Could have used a better AUX cable on the devise

Caidan May 7, 2025

When I hooked it up to my car and had evorything correctly hooked up when i turned my cars AUX port setting on there was a loud weird static coming from it but when I unplugged it from the AUX the static was gone so I returned it but rather then that it was perfect for what it was designed to do it could have just had a better cable PS: i have used an AUX to usb type C cable before and there was not static so its not the built in port in my car.

This is a horrible product. The static was bad. Sounds quality was terrible. We live in the mountains with only a few stations we can get plenty of empty stations to stream from. Then We went through Portland on a road trip we bought this for and couldn't find a clear station for an hr. Couldn't listen to our music without a clear station. I do not recommend this product.

If you have a car thats was made in 2014 or before this item will not work so well. It does not tell you that on the description. I found that out when I was googling and youtubing trying to make this hook up to the car. Apparently if you have an older car all it will do is the map and voice read text messages. It is supposed to hook up to the car speakers by Bluetooth, and it is supposed to play your Spotify music account through Bluetooth with the car speakers. plus it says on box it has an fm radio. You cannot access this stuff unless your car is a 2015 or newer.
