My son and i loved playing with this and finding the T.Rex tooth replica!! The kit has everything you need. We started by reading the learning guide and then moved on to get our hands dirtyby digging!! It also comes with a dinosaur "poop" specimen :D How fun!!!
My 7 year old son and I enjoyed this fossil dig and he got a big kick out of the dino poop they include with it. Comes with a good educational booklet and all the tools needed to excavate the clay. This one was a little easier than other ones we have done but still very cool.
My kids had a blast with this set. They actually opened it without my permission because they were so excited. My 10 year old daughter did the digging while my 8, 7, 5 year olds watched. Even my 21 month old watched but I think it's because she just wanted to hang with the big kids. My daughter said it was fun and thought the poop and the tooth were really cool. The dinosaur tooth replica was a pretty nice size and that got my kids all excited. The only negative is that it only took her about an hour to do the digging and after that it's pretty much over with so I would say the entertainment is short lived. I know there are a few different sets like this so I really want to try out some of the other ones. I didn't think they were going to love it this much but it was a hit, especially for both my boys who both love dinosaurs.
This is a fun, educational toy. It was able to keep my child interested and eager to carefully dig into the block for a good amount of time. The dinosaur tooth is surprisingly big and the educational pamphlet that was included contained fun, family-friendly reading material. The added bonus of the nicely packaged real dinosaur poop is awesome. It is so awesome to say you own a piece of real dinosaur poop! Overall, this is a really fun, educational, and unique toy and I highly recommend it.
The boys loved this ages four and seven and even the three-year-old girl they were very excited to start digging in it right away and had a blast it was a perfect gift for that age range
I got this Dino Fossil Dig Kit for a review . Its not what I had expected. But it was fun for my 3 yr old grandson under adult supervision. Now he has his very own dinosaur tooth to start his collection with. Along with some dino poop. Thankfully its in a specimen card. I was expecting a smaller tooth and an actual fossil to keep. The fossil is the skull on top of the dig brick. But it was fun and my grandson was excited because he loves dinosaurs. I would buy this and give as a gift to a dinosaur loving child .
This kit comes with a Dino fossil book with about 10 pages of info on dinosaurs, dinosaur poop, the block which has the claw in it, and a mini magnifying glass, paint brush and pick. The dirt block was a little smaller than I was expecting. And the dinosaur poop is a teeny tiny piece attached to a piece of cardboard for you to keep. My son is 10 and had fun with this. The only thing that you are actually “digging” out is the replica of the dinosaur claw. Just so you know, you do need a hammer for this! Once you give it a few good whacks, then you can start picking away at it with the pick to get it out of the dirt block. My son didn't really use the brush. It takes a few seconds to use the hammer on it and he has gotten it out within a few minutes. It's a pretty cool little kit. My son had fun doing it but I think he thought he would have to work a little bit more for it. Overall he had a good time doing it and reading about the dinosaurs in the little book provided.
My daughter had fun digging for the dinosaur tooth. She thought it was real and I explained to her that it was a replica. She said the kit should be called, How to Lie to children. She had fun doing it but was a bit bummed out that it wasnt a real tooth.
My son got this and right away got into it. It didn't take him long to get the items. He loves dinosaurs so this was perfect. I wish there were more things to do that involved more but overall it was a fun project.
This is a fun way for kids to learn about fossils and dinosaurs and our grand-daughter loves the other National Geographic kits she has used for gems and dinosaur bones. Her favorite part was that it included REAL dinosaur poop! That was a huge hit. You can easily soften the brick by adding a ittle water and letting it soak in before digging into it. However, I only gave the kit 3 stars because even at age 5, she was disappointed that the fossil was not a real tooth but a replica. "Replica" became her word of the day and she wants a real tooth not a replica. The box clearly states it contains a replica fossil but in the future, I'd opt for real fossils.
