Tablo - 4th Gen, 2-Tuner, 128GB Over-The-Air DVR & Streaming Player - White

After 30 years, I finally got rid of Directv not because I was dissatisfied with the product, but I just didn't wanna spend the money anymore on something I wasn't using as much. I have an antenna in my attic and I get all of my local channels I just needed a way to record them and this solve the problem at a very, very reasonable price. I was expecting to pay 4 to 5 times this price for a DVR.

This new Tablo works very well on Apple TV and Roku, I have no issues on both streamers, I like the fact that Tablo includes extra streaming services included with the channels that you scan, mine found 243 channels and I am 40 mile from the best tower in DFW in Cedar Hill, very responsive and clear channels.

If you are a "Cord Cutter" but really can't afford high priced streaming services that offer you your local channels for about the same cost as cable, if you switched to an OTA digital antenna but are missing VOD and DVR from the high priced streaming apps, then Tablo 4th Gen device is definitely for You. This new device offers a bunch of channels, DVR, plus all your OTA local tv channels. No Subscription, No Cost! I get 28 local channels, all the main networks with my antenna but this Tablo 4th Gen I get 113 channels with a 128 Gig storage of anything I set it to record. Plus with 2 on-board tuners (a 4 tuner version is available) so other people on your wifi with the Tablo app installed can watch other channels too. It even has an off-line mode to watch your local channel just in case the internet drops out! The only thing I regret is not checking Tablo out before now! If you are serious about cutting the cord, this device is a must! I am so impressed, so impressed! 📺 📡🪄 👏

The device worked for me very well, too a little time finding the optimal location for the antenna, but once I did we got almost 200 channels and the recording are working flawlessly. Any issues that might rise would be from the wifi connection, and like anything closing the app and reopening solves all problems. Used the Ethernet connection initially at a bad antenna location but moved the device on the second floor positioned the antenna on a western wall based on transmitter locations in my area and used the wifi connection. Have not had to restart the app ever since. Well worth the money to record our shows on CBS and soccer games on local FOX channels.

The unit freezes a lot. Sometimes it won't let you do anything with the remote. You can't always record streaming channels that are provided on Tablo. You have to unplug the device to reset the unit after it freezes when in operation. Leave the power cord accessible to do this process often. Otherwise it's a lot cheaper than cloud storage offered by streaming services that charge $80/month for programming/service. I miss my VHS recorder.

Great concept but needs further refinement. I've had an OTA antenna for years that works fine with all my TV's. I wanted the ability to record and have access via the Roku app instead of having to switch to the TV channel tuner. When connected to the Tablo, the Tablo's unstable network connection keeps interrupting the local channels. I have no issues with the Roku channels which are mostly the same as the non local OTA channels on the Tablo. The Tablo is connected with a network cable. It also did not record a 2nd episode that I had scheduled the following week on the same channel.

We purchased Tablo to be able to record shows from our local networks. No instructions are included so it was all done online. It was very difficult to install and had to goggle lots of problems during this process. We finally got it installed and when channels were scanned, our local channels were listed on the guide but when you clicked on them, it would try to go to the channel but would only return back to guide. We tried to get technical support but they could never get it fixed so we returned it for a refund.

Do not waste your money on this. I wish I could find a way to get mine back. I have an antenna to get my local stations but I can't record them. I got the Tablo so I could record to watch the playback later when I can't watch live. More often than not, the recordings aren't there. It is just black. If I leave it on long enough I get a message that says Playback Failed. Again do not waste your money of this piece of very expensive crap.

Device has been a problem from day one. continually locks up, and reinstalling app is necessary. Now, 45 days after purchase (I can no longer return) it has quit completely. Tablo tech support has advised me that app has issues w/Samsung %26 LG tv sets. I have now spent so much unproductive time with tech support (foreign call center) and on hold, I'm giving up. Time to just throw this junky thing away. Total waste of money!

Warning. you have to have a smart tv and be able to connect to a internet source to use this. my dad bought this under the impression it could just hook up to his antenna and allow him to receive more channels. customer service is very poor. you cannot get a himan person to answer the phone or a human person to response on the chat app. you have to have an email address to open the app on your phone that you need to install the stupid device. all in all i wouldn't recommend buying this. the hassle isn't worth it.
