The smell is granny perfume with a hint of silver coin. And if your hair is dry you would need an oil to add shine, it definitely does add shine to your hair.

I've only had this a short time, so I can't really say whether it protects well..I've noticed no shine. The reason I gave it such a low rating is because I hate the smell! It's maybe something like rose scent.

This product was a substitute for the wax stick for hair. The wax stick was in stock and directly next to this spray. I had to drive to the store and purchase it. Was not able to respond to the text about substitutes because I was coaching soccer and didn't think I need to request no substitutes bc I knew it was in stock on the shelf

Doesn't work at all. It actually dulled down my color! and the smell... WOW. When people say it smells like roses, yes, it does. However it's NOT a soft, feminine, pleasant rose scent... it smells like that old bag of potpourri you find in the bottom of your grandmother's closet. It's a musty, mothball kinda rose smell. yuk. RETURN for sure!
