We bought this to install while we were on vacation for 2 weeks. Even though they are just temporarily set up we can see what is going on at home when we are 1700 miles away. Can't wait to set cameras permanently and learn more about the features of Night Owl.
I had a problem with the hard drive when I first was trying to setup the system. I call support and they were very nice and helpful. They said the hard drive had a problem and sent per paid shipping label. I got the new hard drive in about a week and everything was fine. The camera are very good with good resolution. I would buy again.
Hello, we just bought your system! It wasn't on a whimp. My buddy ordered his and I love his! I mean clarity, sound, and just over all its a very nice set up. When I get mine installed, I will get back on here and post some pictures! Thank you for being there when I ask questions. Thats what it's really about.
I've had this system for 2 months now and love it. I have even ordered 3 more cameras to add to it. It was easily set up and once I hooked up the wifi it was very easy to put on phone. I went on a 120 mile trip and was able to see the house just like I was there. The cameras show a excellent picture and can hear whats going on around my house. My sister was so impressed, she bought the same system. I love not having to pay monthly subscriptions. This is a one time buy and that's it. Thank You Night Owl for this great product.
I think most of your products are great, however the camera I purchased would not work, but I was able to return it for repair or replacement. I am waiting on your service center to return it, sometimes things just happen. Thanks again Kendall Whitesel
Wide angle captures the area of 2 cameras put together. Range of sensitivity to pick up activity is very limited
I have only had this installed and running for a few days. One camera is on a back corner of a city lot and has good signal to the NRV in the front center of the house. I have been getting f fair amount of recordings that have nothing on them, better that than missing something. The events recorded on the NRV are different than the ones you see on the app. I did have a few problems with the set up. Some of the issues were me and some was the system. Customer Service was excellent when called. I don't think much of the live text. Mike
After buying & returning a different model Night Owl camera that not connect with my Night Owl system, I was hesitant to purchase this model. Surprising it connected right up. Most important, it worked on a building approx 150 foot from my receiver. The only problem I had was a stripped out set screw on the rotary connection between the camera and the base. This is the same problem I've had on other Night Owl cameras. I'm using a small dab of silicone to hold the camera in position. Otherwise, I'm surprisingly happy with this camera.
This is my second Night Owl camera of this model and it is shown as 'V2' by the firmware ID. Version 2 I presume. It operates fine, like version 1, except for audio quality through the in-camera speaker. In comparison, this one lost fidelity and sounds very distorted. In the area of 20% or more THD, such that even the factory recorded on-board voice prompts are hard to understand. And talking through this speaker remotely is not going to work well. A shame, as the version 1 camera sounds very good in comparison. I placed this camera on the shed behind the house about 100 feet from the wireless router. Clear and stable operation with good looking pictures. No complaints on video performance! Well done Night Owl.
I am not happy at all with this purchase. From the start I have had nothing but issue after issue with this stand alone camera, the motion detection can't tell the difference between a human and rain, says it has face recognition but doesn't detect anything until your face is right at the camera trying to get it to work. Bought a second one for the other side of my house that doesn't have the extra wide view and when I use the app the audio just plays a high pitch constant sound. BUT it SEEMS to sense better being the regular view degree, but now since I have the second camera this one won't load to view it on the app?! As for the app itself it sucks, I have a Galaxy S10 Lite and the app sucks on here. If I go into viewing one camera and back out then try to go back in I have to close the app and re open it or it won't do anything. Doesn't notify me when it DOES detect something and record. ALSO, a majority of the wasted memory on the SD card (that you have to format before you can even use it which they don't tell you!!) is a spider web or something not even moving. Just randomly record's. I do NOT recommend any of the stand alone cameras they offer. Complete waste of my money. So tired of having to talk to their customer support to find out why it's not working properly.
