Menopause really wrecked my sleep, and I've struggled with it for years. I didn't like needing ambien to be able to sleep. Melatonin seemed to give me bad dreams. I have been taking this reishi about an hour before bedtime and then take valerian root and magnesium glycinate at bedtime. It has helped me fall asleep much easier. Not sure how reliable it is, but fitbit says I'm getting more deep sleep, too.
