onn. White Outlet Shelf with Power Cord Storage Compartment

I had forgotten that I ordered this, actually I was expecting just one shelf but they sent me more. OK, I will use the one shelf for the one purpose that I had in mind, the rest of them will either be for rainy day projects or gifts for my family. The idea behind these is a good idea, and in some cases it could be very useful. but most of the outlets in my house have multiple outlet adapters plugged into them, so I can't use these where there are six outlets. I will be able to use them where I don't have the extension outlets hooked up. I have a small espresso machine that would fit on one of these, also an electronic coffee grinder, also a cream-whipper, that allows me to whip up cream to pour into my coffee. The problem is finding a place where I can hook this up. If successful it will clear some of my counter space.

With the included metal brackets this thing is very strong and sturdy. I'm thinking out of the box a little and used one for a fire extinguisher mount. Been wanting it off the floor. Also used one in the kitchen for our can opener to clear up some counter space. I will probably use another as a camera recharging station but could not take a picture of that! :-)

I had wanted one of these for awhile, but kept putting it off. I finally have one now and wonder why it took me so long to just get it.....Instead of having things all over my desk in my office, I have this set up for the small things, like my Echo Dot, so that they are still easily used, but not buried under papers and all kinds of stuff. It was really easy to install, feels sturdy, and nicely hides the cord.

The cats' meow. Price is right, and instructions are unexpectedly clear and accurate. All you need is a small flat-tip screwdriver. Perfect size for the Onn Bluetooth speaker and/or Google Mini and it even improves the bass response of small speaker devices by using the wall as a speaker cabinet - brilliant! One piece of advice: Look around your house and find that little 6 - 10 inch USB cable and avoid having to tie up that three footer you got.

Strong plastic shelf. Holds up to 10lbs. Size 5 1/4" deep X 4 1/2" wide. Big enough to lay a smart phone on, more than one you have to lay flat and stack on top of each other. Smart home hub or speaker would fit here as well with out a phone. Like that the power cord comes thru the opening at the bottom and on top and can hide the extra cord inside. Wish the top cover removed easier to wind up the cord instead of having to feed it in. Need both hands to get the top unhooked so its not practical to do it often. Installation instructions are clear and easy to understand. Only took a couple minutes to install, super simple.

I was most blown away by the explicit, easy to read, safety-minded and literate instructions included with the shelf. Especially considering that this item is made in China,and it's just one folded paper (see pic), it was a model of clarity, so rare for any type of instruction manual. As far as the shelf itself, I keep thinking of new things for it to hold - a tissue box, a small atomizer, a candle. I just wish I had it for a double width outlet. If you are getting this, I highly recommend you take careful measurements of the space where you intend to use it and compare it with the shelf measurements because there were a couple of places in my home where it would have been really handy, like my kitchen counter, but I couldn't install it because there isn't enough space to place it between the top of the outlet and the bottom of the counter. Otherwise this is a nice, neutral colored item that is coming in handy in a variety of ways.

I thought I could use this in my bathroom, however, it is too large for the space I wanted to put it in. It would be very handy for anyone who has a larger room. It would be good for a space to put a cellphone when charging. The cord goes through the hole at the back so it fits flush against the wall. I will see if I can find a place for it in another room for another purpose. This item is well-made and sturdy.

You know, I don't know what to do with this shelf. Actually, it states that you have to turn off the electrical power to install it and that scared me, so I let it ride. But, lo and behold, when the maintenance man gets here I will see what he can do for me, and then I can give a final review, that is if the maintenance man will approve of it. You see, I live in a rented apartment, so I want to be safe first. But I do have an outlet um, let's say an outlet for plugs that is flat and I tried to do it that way, but it worked as long as I did not put too much pressure on it, and I liked it a lot, but I will also wait to see what the maintenance man does. So, I say Good Luck and Tally Ho, until we meet again.

I found it too difficult to install on my own

While I loved the concept of a shelf hanging over my phone charging outlet, the complicated process required for installing this ONN Shelf really threw me OFF. The box read, "Easy to Install". but as I opened it to do so, I discovered a couple of little bags enclosed along with the rather detailed instruction manual and quickly realized that I was going to need a screwdriver to not only the remove outlet cover but also the Receptacle, which meant turning off the power to the outlet before starting per the recommended instructions. Seriously? I was thinking maybe I should just call my son-in-law the Electrition? However, I managed to install it without incident and I'm using it for my phone and tablet. But I must add that being a shelf, it does protrude out from the wall a bit so you will need to be mindful of where you choose to use it. I only have one vertical outlet that is at counter level and that's in my bathroom and I don't want to do my charging in there, so I installed it by my dining table which has an outlet near floor level. Just a personal preference. I only gave this a Two-Star because I think it's a potential "accident-waiting-to-happen". Face it.....the average person doesn't know where their fuse box is located, let alone which one to switch off before installing. Perhaps the manufacturer should re-think the "Easy to Install" statement printed on the outer box?
