It's all stainless, so it's easy to clean. The attached bail makes it easy to hang over a campfire. Not too big, not too small. It's described as a 12 cup coffee pot, but that's only if you fill it right to the top. Filling it up to the basket, which is where most people will fill it, holds about 8 cups.
Excellent quality. Wanted one for years. Finally got it. Does not dissapoint. Thanks Walmart for the great price. Attached photo shows basket after brewing a full pot with 6 full scoops of coffee (scooper used is the included one found in the large Walmart brand coffee can). i have not used this yet, but, being an Ex- Navy Seal, and, from my experience W/ WALMART'S line of "OZARK TRAIL" camping gear, this Coffee perculator is no less than everything else W/ the same Name/ Line of camping equipment! Stainless Steel, Sturdy and, ready to use on my next weekend excursion W/ my Best friend camping and, catfishing along the Santee Cooper Lake System! I would highly reccomend this Coffee Perculator!
We really like this percolator. We had a smaller one, but with our love of coffee, and kids who also like to sit with a hot chocolate while we drink our coffee, we needed to add a second kettle. This worked just as it should, and I'm happy with the clear indicator and wood lined handle. (Our other percolator did not have this on the handle, and is more annoying to move around once it is very hot. It's not the most aesthetically pleasing contraption, but If you need a percolator that does what it should, this is a good one to get.
Having never used a percolator like this before, instructions or at least suggestions on how much coffee to use, how long it should percolate, etc, would have been nice. It took a few false starts, but now have it figured out and get to have a good cup of coffee without having to worry about it one day ceasing to function (heating element going out, etc).
How does one man consistently lose camp coffee pots? This is our go to replacement for when yet another pot goes to camp and stays there. Maybe it's Bigfoot stealing the pot, who really knows. That said, it does what it's supposed to do with little fanfare if you can find it. I have a dream that one day I'll pop open a tote and there will be 7 percolators in there but hasn't happened yet.
the percolator was nice, but I dont know about the lid. It seems like they should put some sort of clamp on the lid to hold it down while the coffee is brewing. I made 8 cups of coffee in a 12 cup pot and once it starts to percolate the lids starts to come up and coffee starts to boil over and grounds get in the coffee you are to drink. I had to put a coffee cup on top of the lid to hold it down.
I had a glass perculator with a hard (rubber/plastic?) handle that I have had for decades, and I dropped a skillet on it. (Skillet hanging on a hook on the wall, I was rearranging, and the coffee pot was in the dish drain below) :( So, I wanted to get something fast to alleviate my pain but I should have went back to my original glass pot. I don't like not being able to see the coffee brewing so I don't "burn" it. The wood handle has that rustic "camping" vibe to it, but I'm not going to grab it without a towel or something because the metal attached. Same thing with the metal "coat hanger" handle on top. I was trying to grab something quick to replace something that had been with me since my first apartment many, many years ago. And, this pot is perfectly fine for someone who just wants to make a pot of joe without a lot of fuss. It's solidly made for the most part, but make sure you read the do's and don'ts because there is something about leaving water in it too long, and make sure you don't do this or that. For me, I don't know what I was thinking...
How does the manufacturer expect a person to get their ridiculous label off? Even Simple Green, known for cleaning off gooey labels, doesn't work. It was scrubbed over and over with both soap and Simple Green. I'm tired of crap like this that involves too much of my time. This pot is going back.
The basket %26 stand are hard to drop in %26 pull out! Theres no way to pour w/o it spilling down to shape %26 location of the spout. Top swing handle is flimsy. Pitcher bends easily by the Walmart Associates %26 their mistreatment of items. Lid wont seal to keep from having all water/fluids steam away! The holes on basket are so big that even hand chopped (with a knife 🔪 ) coffee beans are too small for %26 EVERYTHING falls through!
