This is great medium-duty pack and was an incredible value when I got it a few months ago. I say medium-duty mainly because it's not a beefy (e.g., the straps and hip belt) as another Ozark trail pack that I've for almost 10 years AND it is so lightweight at 2 pounds!!! It has a semi-rigid plastic panel that serves as an internal frame (just like my other Ozark Trails pack) and it works quite well.
Great size for my travels. I have not used it yet, but it should hold up nicely for the weight I usually carry. I am not sure it could hold a very heavy load like 40 lbs., but it's sturdy enough for my needs. I pack light and travel light.
Got it for a 4 week trip involving flights road trip/ sightseeing as a carry on luggage. So haven't backpacked with it. It's been great. Fits so much, is easy to carry, very light on its own. It's been working out great, and for the price I am really glad that I got it.
I love everything about this backpack! It is amazing! The color is bright and vibrant. There are so many added features. There are clips and pockets everywhere for anything! It is so lightweight. It has padded straps and also pads on the back of the backpack for extra comfort! I've never seen this feature and I love it! It also has an extra cover to keep the rain out.
This bag is huge but in a good way. It can fit so much stuff and i love that you can put a o2 or water pack (sold separately) in this as well. I can fit a sleeping bag amoung countless other stuff in this and the best part is its so comfortable on the back. It has the best plushy straps which helps alot. I have worn this with a water pack that i bought and put in and its still very comfortable to wear especially for long periods at a time. I also love the bright red color as well. My go to backpack for basically everything but especially for hiking and camping.
This backpack is huge! It will be great for camping and hiking. It's a little bulky. The back side has a great support back and helps when the bag is stuffed. It's easy to carry and seems the weight evens out pretty well.
First of all let me start this review saying this Ozark Trail 47 Liter Hydration Backpack is amazing!! I highly recommend to anyone hiking, biking, or camping! This back pack keeps you hydrated and also has many pockets. I like to carry a lot of stuff while hiking so this backpack is a must for me and my husband. My husband loved mine so he bought him one as well. This is a must buy! It is huge. I love the red color as well. Very nicely made Hydration Backpack.
The good: the pack is super lightweight, has plenty of room, and the construction and materials of the bag part is excellent. Honestly for the price it does a lot right. The bad: the straps are lacking. They're a bit thin and also use a very soft spongey material which is not very supportive when the bag is loaded up. The straps are about on par with a standard Jansport type backpack. Walmart: make the straps about a half inch wider, and use a denser foam, and you'd have a real winner. I'm 6' tall (average weight), and this bag was simply too small for my frame. I'd say it would probably fit someone between 5' 4" and 5' 10". At my size, the bottom of the hip straps barely touched the top of my hip bones, and the shoulder straps were starting to dig into my armpits. So I'd say this bag compares with Small/Medium bags from other manufacturers. Ultimately, I'm returning this pack. What you get for the price is fair and decent quality, but being taller I would not want to hike 10 miles with this pack given the shoulder and hip straps. If you're shorter, then it would be a huge bang for your buck and definitely worth a look.
trekking pole hoops not stitched
The worst Ozark trail backpack I've ever had and I've been camping a lot. You would have to reinforce the seams with shoo goo.
