There isn't much one can say about something this simple other than it does its job, and does it well. It is just a plastic container for holding water. Which it does nicely. And it holds 6 gallons, which is a nice big quantity, so be aware it will weigh 50 pounds when full.
I've had my well pump go out or the electricity is interrupted, so I keep three of these containers filled with water. I rotate the water out monthly. An excellent backup just in case. These also travel well, so if I go on a long drive I put one in the back in case I get stuck on the trip in the middle of nowhere.
Cheaper to buy and fill with tap water than buying gallons of water. Perfect for hauling water to clean rentals instead of having water service turned on. Perfect for home when water is temporarily turned off. Perfect for Doomsday Preppers!!! Shape of jug is conducive to storing in smaller area.
Not sure why this rebranded as Ozark but was pleased to find it was in fact the Reliance brand container. I bought one from Walmart many years ago and used it daily as I lived in my van so it took extensive wear and tear b4 the rubber seal on the lid finally separated only a month ago. I still use the old one daily at home for my alkaline water. I just can’t let it tip over. Meanwhile. I wanted more for emergency water but WM was out a long time so I bought 3 Igloo brand. Well those were horrible! After 3 deep soaks with bleach and washing, they still had a strong plastic smell and leeched it into the water making it undrinkable. Fortunately WM let me return all of them and I eventually found this ONE Reliance. I almost didn’t buy it because of the Ozark tag but then I saw Reliance molded on the can I snapped it up. Bleached it once and good to go. Great quality!
Nice and sturdy, they come with a pour spout, so that's a nice feature. Only wish they had a handle on the bottom to make pouring easier. They do have a place to make it easier to grip, bit it's not perfect. I am happy with them though, they seem very sturdy and the price was great.
I'm using these for doing farmers walks in the backyard. Filled up they weigh 50 pounds each. They are always right there ready to go. No need to protect from the weather (except freezing of course) like you would need to do with iron weights. Sides of cans remain stiff and do not bulge at all. Handles are beefy, comfortable and strong. Handle on bottom makes pouring easy. Also they are made in Canada. While not the USA, much better than the usual alternative. Extra bonus is that can always use for water storage if needed. BPA free.
These are perfect to take on camping trips. They are durable and don't take up alot of space on the back of my truck. I use them for my camper, I have 4 so that's 24 gallons of water besides what I put in my fresh water tank and water heater before I leave my home. I never run out of water on a 2-4 day stay with 2 people and 2 dogs. I do wish they had another handle to make pouring easier. Other than that they are perfect. They do have that new plastic smell but I just fill them add a little bleach let them set awhile then rinse, smell is gone.
The sprout is useless as the water can is way too heavy to be lifted up to pour when fully filled, especially when there is no good place to hold and tilt it. The gasket on the lid is way flimsy and won't work without the sprout inverted into the can. The air breathing hold is sealed with a simple plug that fits poorly, and when the can is filled to capacity, water leaks from it. I bought 4 of these to prepare for blackouts; they all have the same problem.
Just purchased it for taking camping. It is not living up to my expectations. Only one trip. One fill up with water and the plastic, which seemed to be sturdy (as the jug is hefty in weight), and has a design on its sides which I assumed was to help with the forces of nature for maintaining the jug shape's integrity, well it has not and it is not. I need a jug that can retain its rectangular shape, to fit things in the jeep, not what looks like an overweight with a belly water carrier. Not impressed by any means.
Both the screw-top lid and air lock plug leak when fastened. Can only store water with jug in vertical position. I was very dissapointed in this product.
