It just went perfect with my ozark gravel bike. Perfect fit. I really like the fact that this is way better than any other in the segment. Good price and same or even more sturdier than the competitors. Since my bike is ozark I just went with it and after having and studying it before I put it on, I realized it was the best choice. Try it out yourself and won't be disappointed
It was missing a couple screws that were clearly displayed in the images on both the box and the instruction manual but I was able to make it work. Never did figure out how to properly attach the bungee cord but I rigged that, too. Now that it's on it's holding firm and doesn't rattle or shift.
It was fairly easy to install however I'd recommend having a plier handy to hold the nut still while you screw in with the hex wrench that's included, otherwise both the screw and the nut will both turn and the screw won't feed into the nut. I don't recommend buying this particular rack with a cruiser model because the main bracket that's supposed to fit around the pole under the seat, doesn't fully close, the diameter of my seat pole is just a bit too big so the bracket doesn't cleanly close however the arms on the side that shoot down and clamp around the brackets around the rear wheels do a well enough job of keeping the entire rack sturdy and not swaying back and forth. The rack does slide back and forth and should be able to support whatever you need it for, like a saddle bag or a basket.
Ordered in the morning arrived that afternoon. Nice rack and it fits well. Only complaint is the photo that shows the light says "Rechargeable" it is not. It comes with two regular AAA batteries. Also it wouldn't shut off after getting rained on. I took the batteries out, let it dry and it's working again. I'd buy it again as the rack is high quality.
It's a nice bike rack. I'll tell you that. Assembly is pretty difficult, and it definitely feels like you're putting something together that's sorta cheap, and the wrench that came with it didn't even fit the nut/bolt (at least in my situation), but oh well, I have a tool collection myself anyway. Extra support beams are a little too unnecessary, but it adds some sturdiness, but if you aren't carrying a bulldozer on the bike rack, you don't need to go the extra mile. Oh yeah, the backlight, if that's what you call it, was very, very cheap. The hook on it just felt like cheap plastic, and it just bent off with no effort, which just made it unusable. I think it's more for marketing than it is really for convenience. But anyway, guys, that's my experience.
The pro's, well made, sturdy, solid. And I love the inclusion of a flashing strobe light rather than a reflector, excellent quality for the price. The cons, 2 of the steps conflict regarding placement of the vertical support rail - one shows it goes behind the side bar (correct) one shows outside (incorrect). Also, it's vague as to where to p-clamp this to the bike beam. Finally, the insert support rail could have been just an inch longer to utilize the bikes eyelets rather than the p-clamps.
i work for WalMart. I bought this item with my own money. i ride my bicycle to work everyday in all weather conditions. This cargo rack is almost identical to the one that I'm replacing that lasted for years. I reused hardware. I didn't use the included tools or read the instructions. Assembly time including my modifications was about 30 minutes, The "D" shaped siderails are useless to me. i use giant pannier bags to carry cargo. The pannier bags get sucked into the spokes of the rear wheel everytime i hit a bump or turn. I solved this problem years ago by attaching two 1/4 inch square pieces of plywood on either side. I had to redrill two holes for the new cargo rack. I attached the boards using the included hardware. I added some flat washers to spread the load. I kept the loads under 40 lbs on my old cargo rack and will do the same with this one. The adjustable vertical struts are held in position with one set screw on either side. There is no locking mechanism on the struts to hold it in position. If you are willing to modify this cargo rack, it's a good buy. Wearing a backpack while riding a bicycle sucks. Pannier or side saddle bags are far better for urban commuting and shopping. The pannier bag I bought came with a nylon rain fly so my cargo is kept dry during the rainy season. Pannier bags carry more cargo than a backpack and place the stress on the bicycle frame not your body. This Ozark bicycle cargo rack came with a tailight that clips onto the back of the frame. My old cargo rack had only a reflector so I had to buy a tailight separately and clip it onto the pannier bag. It kept being knocked off so this tailight was a pleasant bonus.
Even though the clamps are tightened as much as they can go, when i add weight onto the rack (nowhere near its 100 something pound weight limit) the rack supports slid down on my frame and scratched the paint. It is also not very steady with weight on it, causing jt to sway side to side and rub against the rear tire. Overall its a decent rack, feels very sturdy, I just wish it would've mounted to the holes in my bikes frame instead of clamping down over the frame.
The first time I purchased this rack, I ordered it online for same-day delivery from Wal-mart. Delivery was quick, about 4 hours. It arrived on my doorstep in its retail packaging. I brought it inside and laid out the parts, looked at the instructions, and it was missing parts. I initiated an exchange via walmart.com, and it would only allow me to return it via FedEx. I drive down to FedEx, and FedEx tells me they won't accept it because it isn't packed for shipping, and wants me to pay them to pack it. I drive across town to my local Wal-mart, and they tell me there's nothing they can do, I have to pay FedEx to pack it or buy my own shipping materials. I ask to speak to the manager, and the woman tells me she is the manager. Nobody believes me when I say this is how it was sent to me. Since I was visibly upset, they offered a plastic Wal-mart shipping bag to pack it in. I'm pretty irritated by this point, and when they handed the plastic bag to me, they made a snippy remark about "you don't have to snatch it from me, I'm just trying to help", but I swear I didn't snatch anything. I wasn't angry enough to react before that, but that nearly pushed me over the edge, I found it very rude and condescending. I drive across town again to re-visit FedEx, mercifully they accept the package. I see the next day that it's for some reason being shipped 3 states away. I don't want to wait, and I am afraid I will receive another incomplete product, and have to go through this again, so I call Wal-mart support, explain the situation, and ask that my exchange be changed to a refund. They apologize and tell me it's taken care of. I go out the next day to a different Wal-mart store for a replacement. The first one I pick up is already visibly missing parts (bolts and silicon covers), so I set it aside. I grab another, it looks okay, so I purchase it and drive home. I make it halfway through the install process and realize... you guessed it, missing parts. It was missing a single nut for securing the pannier guards. That's 3 in a row, there is a problem with the quality control of this product. Additionally, the rear light mount is wobbly at best, barely on there at all, and the rear light button responds half the time. I sorted out these issues with zip ties and gave myself a few days to consider if I wanted to deal with this as a DIY solution. Ultimately, after looking at pricing for alternatives, I made a trip to the hardware store and found a suitable nut to replace the missing part, and I opted to keep it. Installation was simple enough, and it feels sturdy, although it's nearly impossible to align properly, and scratches easily. I like the rack despite these issues, but there is clearly a quality control problem where there are consistently missing parts. It's been a week and I just now got an email that they accepted my return, and my exchange would be sent soon. Clicking on the order shows it as cancelled and says ~10 more days before I get a refund.
it arrived falling apart. it's "packaged" with half of the thing outside. NONE of the parts fit together. and i'm not talking about what fits on the bike. the parts themselves straight up do not go together. assembling it requires damaging it. you have to screw the screws into the rack where there are no holes. they are also so soft that they became stripped using the tools that came with it. the bungee cord is doing 90% of the work, but this thing couldn't hold a single thing without collapsing i don't think. i am a handyman on the side, putting together furniture, hanging mirrors, mounting tv, etc . i've installed probably 50 bike racks to all sorts of bikes. this is not a bike rack. this is pure garbage. i would rather go to a year of jury duty than have to assemble this again.
