This is the best value-for-money hardtail 29er you can buy new. This listing doesn't distinguish between models, but as of Dec 2025, this was the Ridge M.2, which is the same price but better value as the original, mostly because of the clutched deraileur. This is not a toy, it's a piece of sports equipment that can be repaired and upgraded as your needs grow.

The Ozark trail ridge m.2 is absolutely amazing for the price let's just get that out of the way. Anybody who is hating on it either has never experienced a real cheap garbage bike or has been spoiled by super high end bikes too much. The bike feels great, assembly wasn't too hard, the instructions were solid enough, my only really complaint is the brake backing plate literally just immediately stripped upon me trying to adjust the brakes, the brakes still work fine but the adjuster is now cooked, now saying that original brakes are mediocre at best so I would highly recommend getting some cheap hydraulic brakes like the Shimano mt200s oh and a new seat because the normal one is terrible at least to my butt it is, But other than those couple drawbacks, the bike shifts amazing, rides super smooth, is very light for a dirt cheap bike, the tires are genuine kendas and ride well, and the original pedals are perfectly passable unlike what some redditors will say. Overall if you want a good cheap mountain bike look no further I got mine on sale for only $200 which at that price point I can guarantee you aren't finding anything better.

Bike was delivered by FedEx with no damage. Assembled bike with no issues. Brake rotors rubbing slightly after adjusting brake calipers - was able to correct by careful hand-bending. Bike appears well-made, wheels pretty true - Presta valves have non-removable cores, so no slime or 'flat out' unless you get new tubes. Large frame OK for me @ 6'4", though that seems to be the limit. I bought this for mostly street riding, but need the front suspension to save my old wrists against impact - am also considering suspension seat post, but fat 29" tires might be enough. Still trying to "bed in" brake pads - rear brake is pretty weak, but front brake acceptable - I don't ride too hard. A hydraulic upgrade should be your first mod if you're crashing through the woods. For the price, this is impossible to beat - but if anything changes about that, I'll amend this review.

Excellent, upgradable to your hearts content, can become your forever bike. That being said: Don't trust Walmart's Assembly. Check everything yourself or take it to a bike shop before your first ride. Regardless of that minor gripe, the M.2 Ridge is still the best value in the price range years after its introduction and absolutely swings up in weight class, competitive with other hardtail frames in the $900-$2.5k range. The 1x9 gear ratio is elite in the class but you may find it shifts a bit chunky, that's more a derailer/shifter issue (hence why I highly recommend going over the whole bike with a trained eye). I also highly recommend you purchase metal pedals with your bike, the stock plastic ones are better then most plastic pedals to be fair (and in my case found a home on a Huffy for a local kid) but they simply aren't up to the tasks that the rest of this bike is. It feels like the only cost saving measure on this bike that makes me scratch my head, another $10 to the base price isn't going to chase away buyers when the bike is already $500-$2k less than the competitors… it's not like it's a R%26D issue… Ozark Trail makes excellent pedals that only cost $15 at retail… but I digress. The Suntour XCT30 fork is both the best engineered fork in history and the first thing most of you will want to upgrade. Personally, I find that the most common complaint is it's heavy, on the flip side, its biggest asset is it will survive the apocalypse, so it's staying. The stock grips also ripped up my gloves, they were not riding gloves to be fair, so I guess that's on me, but still something to consider.

I am incredibly impressed with the Ozark Trail 29" M.2 Ridge Mountain Bike! For the price point, this bike offers an absolute ton of value and feels remarkably sturdy. The large frame fits perfectly for taller riders, offering a very comfortable and upright riding position. The 29-inch wheels roll over bumps, roots, and uneven pavement with ease, making the transition from neighborhood sidewalks to light trail riding completely seamless. I was delivered an open package. The cardboard itself was relatively intact, but open. Fortunately all the parts were still there and the bike seems intact. Please make the cardboard more resilient to shipping mishandling. Will update with installation and performance later.

Bought for our sons for his birthday. He loves it. He changed handlebar grips and pedals. The only issue he found was the tire tubes were metric, so he had to order an adapter to add air to tires. I do have to say the delivery box was torn to pieces and looked pretty bad. The delivery was through FedEx. The delivery was delayed, which after receiving makes sense with the condition it was in. The bike was still in good condition, but shows they do NOT use care!!

Assembly was done in such a way that damaged the bike by stripping the hex screws that hold on the handlebars and kickstand. One was completely stripped out and unusable. At least 2 others were nearly completely stripped where you cannot tighten them without it slipping out. I noticed when I was loosening the handlebars that were mounted poorly a couple inches off center.

Hi Tony here, I wanted to share that I am really enjoying my new Ozark Trail bike. Pedaling is effortless, and it offers great speed and wheel travel. The gear shifting is very accurate, and the disc brakes provide reliable stopping power. If you are looking for a new bike, I highly recommend making this purchase; you won't regret it. I have spent more mobey to fix a vrand new bjke than what the bike was actually worth. Issues with the tires had to replace bith of them 1 month after purchase, the chain, and sprocket, handlebars, the seat keeps coming lose. Needed to replace the brakes 2 months later with little usage!
