Great addition!

Erika February 15, 2025

Great addition to your pandemic collection. Puts a new twist on the original game. I don't know that I'd recommend this for the younger players, unless they have a good grasp of the original game first.

Great additions to the game!

KingJoey February 15, 2016

The Lab Challenges are interesting and add an exhilarating element to the game. And the solo mode packs nearly all the fun of the game into one player. EXCELLENT EXPANSION!

Amazing game and in great condition. I did receive it late and after the function it was intended for, but the quality of the product was amazing!

Hummmm

Pandemic is a game my wife loves to play. This expansion adds some interesting twists to the game. We lost the first 3 games we played (not nusual to lose a game of Pandemic), but now we are getting the hang of it. We will probably not play without it.

Unnecessary busywork

Anton January 2, 2026

As a huge fan of Pandemic and of On the Brink (the previous expansion), this one is just okay. Not good, not great, just okay. The positives are all of the new events, roles, virulent strain cards, and the new purple mutation cards (overhauling the previous version of the mutation challenge, making the purple disease much more prevalent). Everything that adds to the base game, virulent stain, and mutation challenges is great, and keeps an already fun game fresh. The titular lab challenge however, is just not good. The lab is now a separate board where instead of just cashing in five city cards to cure a disease, there are a bunch of extra, convoluted steps to develop a cure. Despite the positive reviews I've seen from other people, I genuinely questioned if I was doing something wrong but after two different play throughs, I can say that the lab just creates a bunch of busywork, wastes so many actions, and does not make the game more fun or more challenging in an engaging way. It might be doable with a larger group (four or five players) and with the "right" roles (like the medic and the scientist), but I won't be playing the lab challenge again. There's a new way to play solo mode in this version. There's also a team mode where teams of two or three people compete against each other, but I don't see myself ever playing it. All in all, the new roles, events, virulent strain and mutation cards are great, but are the only enjoyable additions, and certainly aren't "worth" the entire expansion. One final complaint: the backings of the new cards are a slight but noticeably different shade of blue (events and virulent strain epidemic cards) and green (mutation cards) than the cards from the base game and on the brink. It's not the end of the world but you can see them coming when it's the next card to draw. Also, the new purple cubes are a different shade from the purple cubes in On the Brink. Practically, it doesn't affect anything but the lack of attention to detail is another ding against this.
