PBS Kids 7" HD Educational Playtime Kid-Safe Tablet with Android 6.0 (PBSKD12)

The PBS KIDS Educational Playtime Tablet is a great option for parents looking for something cheaper than a traditional iPad to use with their child/children. The learning curve on how to use it is easier if you are familiar with a Google based setup but is not extremely hard if you aren't. You can make multiple accounts for several children. Any app from the Google play store may be downloaded for your child to have access to on their home screen and you can personalize each child's home screen. One of the best features is being able to set a timer for each account to control the amount of time they can spend on the tablet. You can also set the time frame during which it can be used (ex. 7am to 4pm). The quality of the screen clarity and pictures you take are not as good as an iPad, but for a beginning tablet it is not a bad choice. Currently a 4 year old grandchild has used it but the younger one (1 1/2 yrs) has not, but i'm sure they will be able to use it by age 2. It has already been dropped a few times with no damage. There is a rubber guard on the device. I have had to put it on a few times as it comes off pretty easily. Overall I would definitely recommend this tablet as a great alternative to purchasing an iPad for a child because of the low price, durability and ease of use.

this kids tablet is pretty easy to use, it uses google/android so you will have to register this with a google email. you can access the play store on here to add more apps if you want to. there is a parent screen that is password protected, and a child safe mode for just your kid to use. it has around 7 gb of storage, but there is a micro sd slot to add more storage. if your kid is like mine and loves to take pictures you will need more storage. it has all the pbs apps and content already loaded on the game. my son was able to use it right away. it doesn't seem to take a very long time to charge, and the battery life is at least 4 hours, that is continual use. it has a seven inch screen and comes with a blue rubber protector incase of drops. it does also have a reset button on the back incase something happens and you need to reset it. there are a lot of kid tablets out there, but not many good ones, this one is of the better ones, it has worked well so far and my son has enjoyed using it.

The bumper she had off in a matter of seconds. I'm afraid to give it to her unless I'm hovering over her, which isn't always convenient and isn't why I bought it. Am now trying to find some way to make it more resilient. Having said that, she looks best the content and loves playing with him.

The tablet is good for some things, but I bought this for a grandchild to use in the car or other places without wifi. Most things on the tablet need wifi. So if you are using it at home then great. Also I don't find the tablet user friendly. I am use to Samsung devices and they are so easy to use. I have a hard time getting back to home on this device. It does have some good apps on it and you can add apps to it, so that is nice.

I couldn't find any good reviews before I bought because it's only for a 2 yr old. However sometimes she manages to get out of the Kids Mode even though the parent password is set. Or you sometimes get any error that an app is not approved for Kids Mode even though I have already aporoved it. It does freeze sometimes which is weird because it was brand new out of the box, so I didn't expect to have that problem for a while. Considering that it is also a full functioning tablet, it definitely gets a thumbs down. I always have to check in on her even in Kids Mode just make sure everything is working properly and she's not getting frustrated because sometimes it has a mind of it's own and spontaneously force closes apps. And everytime she turned it on, I kept getting an email to activate the tablet, even though I have already done it, SEVERAL TIMES. Keep in mind, it is BRAND NEW, manufactured in August 2016 running Android 6.0 so it's definitely dissapointing in some areas. And the resolution sucks. You have to hold it a certain way to see the screen clearly without any weird glare. There's other tablets out there that's worth a shot.

Really wanted to love this tablet. Such a great idea to have a truly safe kids tablet from PBS. Many wonderful features and the real ability to control all content. I like that you can not only set a time limit but a time frame as well. The bumper cover is a good idea but the 4 yr old couldn't leave it alone and took it off all the time. Biggest problem is the speed of loading content. It can take a very long time and the kids get very upset. It also freezes up just enough to send the kids over the edge. After 3 weeks - the 9 yr old has lost interest, the 6 yr old is too frustrated to play it anymore & the 4 yr old can't really do much on it alone and has lost the case.

Recieved with scratches in screen and an outdated system that couldn't be updated. I had it connected to my wifi and no matter what I did it kept saying server error. Everytime I tried to update anything would say server error and nothing would work. Thankfully I started it and tried to set it up 3 days before my son's birthday so I had time to return it and order him something different. Worst purchase I have ever made!

it did not like hooking up to the internet would not open up browsers would not download games and one little tap the screen broke now it no longer works didn't even have it for a week and it quit working

Unfortunately it's just too old. It's only running Android 6 and it won't update the software. So besides being's extremely slow all the apps just keep stopping. I love the idea of this and although we bought this "new" it was already too old and now we can't use it and we can't return it.

I purchased this from the Walmart website shame on me for not checking. It was from a third-party seller when it came. It wasn't even this. It was a different tablet. They were trying to pull a fast one on me. I never opened it. I did return it to Walmart buyer beware always check to see if it's a third-party seller
